A bit gutted

OK I've been dieting for only 2 weeks so I should be full of enthusiasm, but after the first 5 days I lost 4 lbs, then a week later i had lost another 4lbs, however I got on the scales today and have put 2lbs back on??? I have no explanation for this as I've stuck to MFP rigidly and not cheated in the slightest :( anyone know why I gained? muscle growth? I have been taking more exercise, but only cardio (walking) It's done my head in a bit tbh, I feel lighter but the scales never lie do they?

It might just be your body fluctuating, it depends on when you weighed yourself and it could also be water weight.
But it's totally normal! Don't worry about it, I'm sure you'll get back to losing(:

    Yea.
    It´s probably water weight.
I´ve seen weight fluctuations myself of about 2-3 pounds daily just because of the amount of water my body is retaining.
Try weighing yourself once per week, at the same time every time. (I weigh myself friday mornings right after I brush my teeth before breakfast).

I was going to ask your sodium intake too? That makes a difference in weight. Makes sure sodium is included in your food journal to keep track of it.

Not really been tracking sodium intake tbh, is it that important?? As for water, I've started having a bottle on my desk at work and taking regular sips throughout the day, maybe 3-4 litres a day.

Hi there. Keep up with your enthusiasm and please don't feel so gutted! And so you lost 8 pounds, then gained back 2. That's a total of 6 pounds in 2 weeks! That is FANTASTIC! I doubt in 2 weeks you built any muscle to speak of (but keep weight training!). It's probably just water weight and will come off again in a few days. Seriously... I'm in a cycle with my loss that I lose 4 pounds in one week and then spend the next 3 weeks gaining and losing those 4 just lost. Then I lose another 4 (wash, rinse, repeat). It can be frustrating, but stay the course!

I do like a bit of salt on my food, probably way too much in fact, but I haven't really been overdoing it.. guess that's something else I need to address.. Thanks for the positivity guys, I think maybe I weigh myself too frequently, so I'll stick to once a week from now on :D

I agree on the salt theory. Luckily I am not a huge Salt-girl, if I get salt it's in all the prepared things say sauces, and such. But when I eat I make a blizzard of Black Pepper on my food(LOL) and a very very light sprinkle of salt. Sometimes I even forget the sale because I dowsed it in pepper. I know my father LOVES salt, I always chastise him for adding a heaping amount(he SKIPS the pepper :/) and when we have say veggies with a little butter, he... goes for more butter, and I have to tell him,

"Dad, it has butter on it"
    "Just adding a little hunnie,"

    DOLLOP.

lol. anyway WHERE WAS I, YES.. Salt, it is good in moderation(wish I could follow that rule in chocolate) but I know it can cause bloating. Try weighing yourself after a night of chinese, Yikes. Lol..

Yes. You'd be surprised how much sodium is lurking in foods. I never add salt to food and still have trouble staying under 1,500 mg / day.

16 oz of water weighs 1 pound!! So depending on how much water you drank the day before or before you weigh yourself it could fluctuate more than we realize. Add that to the fact that most scales themselves can fluctuate a few pounds here and there.
