To dairy or not to dairy??

I am a 48 yr old female, just starting this joy of menopause. More like pre menopause still. I only have about 10 lbs to lose, with nearly ALL of that in my gut. This hasn't been a problem for me forever; just last few years. So I've read that dairy encourages weight gain. I'm not much of a dairy person anyway; dont really even drink milk. I know I've got to have some dairy to be healthy. Here's my trouble: i just read in the Zumba book that to target gut problems, women need to have more dairy! It kind of bothered me reading that, because I've always heard you can't really "target" dieting. Does anyone know the real truth on dairy and bloated tummies???

Since you're going through menopause, it is essential that you get calcium into your diet. Some sources say dairy may aggravate hot flashes, but calcium is essential to prevent osteoporosis.
