I need mini goals because seeing 90+ lbs is just too much to wrap my head around. But I dont know how to set goals. I want to be to 200lbs (45lb loss) by September first. Is that realistic? I just dont know what is realistic. I know that when a person is bigger weight tends to come off faster to start but I dont want to set a big goal and not meet it. I have 2 kids, just had my 2nd daughter 3 weeks ago, so my time for exercise is limited. I cant spend 3 hours a day working out. I just dont know how to go about this.

That seems good to me ! I am sending you a friends request also ! I am so close to being under 200 pounds ! You can do this\ ! Being under 200 is one of my first big goals ! Just do what you can for exercise i mean if you just move around your house while your daughter is asleep or something ! Hope this helps you out !
  • 1 or 2 lbs per week is realistic and the best way to lose weight so count that out and see when that gets you to 200 lbs.

Your goal is a bit high- probably not attainable. Also, you shouldn't exercise for another 3 weeks- for a total of 6 weeks after giving birth. You may lose weight quickly at first, setting a goal of 4 pounds a month is realistic. Especially with 2 small children, you may find that your time is pretty stretched and setting a higher goal causes frustration.

are you even cleared for exercise yet? I had to wait 8 weeks or so, but I had a c section. If you're cleared for exercise, then you can probably work in a brisk walk with kiddos. Until your littlest sweetie gets a little older, it's probably going to be a little tough to get the exercise you feel like you need. I don't know all of your situation, but if you are a SAHM, you can maybe get a walk in before your elder children need to take a nap, at least while the weather is nice. Otherwise, I can tell you I just calculated that doing jumping jacks for 10 minutes burns 110 calories, which is pretty significant and jumping jacks are totally free. 2 minutes of jumping jacks 5 times per day? Just get creative, you'll find you can work it in pretty much anywhere. Also if you are BF your little sweetie, you may not want to diet too heavily, considering you are going to be naturally burning calories while producing milk. Congratulations on your new baby, and good luck on your journey!

I try not to set a time limit for my goals as it seems to make me stressed out. I have my goal and hope to lose the second half of my goal by mid summer. I don't think anyone who is moderately losing weight needs to work out 3 hours a day! I like jilian micheals videos that give me a 25 min workout and a good 'burn' on all my muscles. I try to do cardio with my kids (mom of 3) i walk fast while they ride their bikes. The last 3 years i pushed the stroller or we pulled the little one in the bike cart. If you can't find a full 30=60 min straight- try to break it up into 15 min segments to start for walking :) Now that my kids are older, i can walk around our park while they play too (younget is 4 now). You will get to your goal! Even put 'autumn' to find 'onderland'...

This is what I was thinking. My body tells me when Ive done too much and Ive been taking it easy the last week due to this. Im hoping once its nice outside I can take the kids for walks. One in the stroller and the 3 year old can then burn off some energy, which she badly needs to do. I will have to try to figure out a more realistic goal :ohwell:

I havent been exercising. I still have another couple weeks. I was told at 4 weeks I could start mild exercise (walking) as long as my body was up to it.

I think the best goals are focused on what will finally get you to your ultimate weight loss because weight can vary based on recent activity level, stress, cycles, Earth's gravity. Try focusing on ways to eat healthier. Set goals for trying new and different fruits, veggies, healthy recipes.

And for fitness, set measurable, attainable and realistic goals. Do an exercise and see how long it takes for you to feel winded. Use that as a marker. Then give yourself a week or two to surpass that mark. Keep doing this for every different exercise you do. Don't plow through with sloppy form. Instead, keep good form and work until you feel it's a bit too challenging. Now you have your new marker. If you keep your focus on how strong your body gets and how much endurance you gain, the weight will come off.

    What great advice, thanks!

Completely agree with you. What I'm doing is setting short term and long term goals based on monthly and overall goal so its rewarding and doesn't feel overwhelming. I also reward myself every month I'm on target.
