Well I ended up in the hospital yesterday....Out of the blue my heart started fluttering and would not stop I would get light headed and a little dizzy I was scared but i didnt think it was like a heart attack .. I googled it and used webmd....and called a nurse (she stated come in but if you start to feel pressure and pain on the left call 911) but my kids were home. So for 2 hours this kept happening and as soon as I could I took them to school and I went to the ER. My heart was in atrial fibrillation for another 4 hours and then as quick as it started it stopped. Not real sure what caused it possible meds I was taking (allegra D) i dont think so but Im not a dr. My thyroid was elevated but just a little and it has been like that for 4 yrs. But my BIG question to the Dr was "can i still work out?" woo hoo answer was yes!! That was all i could think about while this was going on... Stupid yes .... addicted to workingout yes....

And worked out for an hour today....YAY

I am suprised they sent you home. I am an ER/ICU RN and most new onset Afib patients get admitted. Make sure and follow up with a cardiologist.
AND...if you notice it come on while exercising, STOP! and get to a doctor (preferably not by driving yourself).
It may never happen again and then again it may. Afib can occur out of nowhere, but can be managed well.
    Wishing you well

Next time this happens, please go to the closest Emergency Department. AFib is very common, but new onset is generally worked up more extensively in the hospital. The symptoms you described have also been reported in some very serious heart rhythm disturbances. Definitely follow up with your regular physician as soon as possible. I commend you on your motivation to working out, but, you do not want to risk making your kids orphans. It happens, I've seen it and it is heartbreaking. Hope everything works out well for you and you never have another episode.

Heart stuff can be scary! Take care of yourself!!! I had problems with my heart racing up to 200+ bpm for no reason since I was a kid. It would just start and then stop just as suddenly. They called it tachycardia I believe. Sudafed and caffeine made it worse. Once they were able to catch it on the Monitors I was referred to a dr who specializes in the electrical signals in the heart. I had an electrical signal getting caught in a loop causing the unexplained rapid heart beat. They were able to go in and cauterize that certain spot in an outpatient procedure and I've not had any problems since then. Take care and I hope they can get it all worked out.
