i am currently doing the p90x and have had to increase my calories from 1200 a day to 1650 a day(according to their program) and i burn about 600 on cardio days with it(plyo, kenpo etc) so i am getting exercise in...
yet during the day i feel SO guilty if i don't do an hour and a half on my treadmill too
today my kids are down for a nap and i've logged all of my food for today and if i did a treadmill workout i'd be burning 1000cals or more, and not able to eat any of them back...yet i can't help feeling so lazy and guilty, even though i will be doing plyo tonight
does anyone else feel like this!?!

I know how you feel, but if you don't eat those calories, you are going to get crabby. At least that is how I feel. Your metabolism will go into a shutdown state and it will feel like being tired with bad PMS. I have been doing some exercise on a "rest day", but limiting it to 60 minutes on the treadmill followed by a protein shake and/or protein bar. That can pack about 350 calories which will help you feel a little better. Also, if you don't get enough protein after pushing yourself that hard, your muscles cannot repair themselves. Just something to think about! Your goal weight is about the same as mine and your starting weight is what I weigh! I envy you
(PS. I used to be 119 before having 3 kids )0 -
Don't overdo it, especially if you are doing plyo tonight. Find something else fun for yourself, for example give yourself a mani/pedi...or clean. Yesterday I came home from work and worked out for half an hour, and then realized I had so much time before my bf came home, so I just cleaned up around the house and called my sister. I felt guilty that I should have been exercising but catching up on other things felt better...0

I force myself to take one, sometimes two, days a week completely off of my gym routine - per my doctor's instructions, and, yes, I feel guilty as all HELL the entire day. But I just take it one day at a time. I was explaining this to a friend of mine, and she made the comment "You don't want to get addicted to excersize". That got me thinking - a lot. I know I have an addictive type personality - food, at one point in time, drugs, tobacco, alcohol. The last three I have conquered many moons ago, but the food one is one I am activiely working on. When you're battling an addiction, you have to be careful not replace your "negative" addiction with a "positive" addicition. As much as I may squirn and feel guilty on my off days, I know my body needs those days to repair itself and prepare for when I DO go back to the gym. So I eat all of my calories on my off days. I've found that packing snacks on me helps me reach that good goal - almonds, fruit, etc.
Good luck, and I hope you find a happy and healthy balance. Too much acitivity and not enough nutrition can lead to vitamin/mineral deficits, loss of muscle mass (your body will start to consume muscle), thinning of the hair, and/or loss of bone density.0 -
I do feel guilty when I don't do the treadmill...I get up at 4:55 to do the treatmill on Monday/Wed/Fri but their are times were I can't get up so tired...then guilt kicks in... I do it before going to work.0

thanks for all the responses, it's good to know i'm not the only one
i'm a total number obsessive and if i don't burn a 'decent' amount i feel irritable and annoyed with myself...yet logically i know i'm sabotaging myself as most days i have a 1000-1200calorie deficit, which at my weight(135lbs) is a very bad thing...but i can't stop myself from exercising!0
