 Good morning friends! It's a new day, a new week, and time for a new weight! I will weigh myself in a while...wanted to get this started. Here's the plan for today though:

Breakfast:
Cinnamon Raison bagel, 2 tbsp. fat free strawberry cream cheese, 1 med. banana, 8 oz. PlumSmart Lite juice, 1 multivitamin.

Am Snack:
2 c. coffee, 2 tbsp. sugar free Vanilla Caramel creamer, soft-baked Kashi TLC blackberry graham bar.

Lunch:
**Not sure yet**I have a job interview today and I have to meet with the group for lunch. I'm planning on just getting some sort of chicken salad with fat free dressing...so it should be fine.

Afternoon Snack:
Probably not too much since my interview is from 12:30 until 4:00, but I will have my Nature Valley Pecan Crunch granola bar before heading to the gym as usual. I will also take an apple with me if I have time.

Dinner:
4 oz. Tilapia filet, 1/2 cup leftover brown rice, homemade salad with spritzer dressing.

PM Snack:
Depends on calories remaining. Probably 1/2 c. sherbet with cool whip free.

Exercise plan--45 minute Step class, 15 minute Ab workout, Week 5 Day 1 100 PushUp Challenge!

So...I think today should be fine...no major obstacles! I'm not worried at all about lunch. I'm excited to check back in a bit with my new weight! And...I will review my mini goals and list new ones!

I hope everyone is having a FABULOUS Tuesday morning! And I can't wait to see how you're all doing! I'll check back in a bit!:flowerforyou:

    Okay...so...I'm DOWN!!!!! Yay!!!!!

    Week 1--171.5 pounds
    Week 2--170.0 pounds
    Week 3--169.0 pounds
    Week 4--169.5 pounds
    Week 5--168.5 pounds
    Week 6--165.0 pounds!!!!!!!:drinker:
Goal (for after Week 13)--151.5 pounds
    Total lost--6.5 pounds
Total remaining--13.5 pounds...I CAN DO IT!!!!

I am SO excited! I knew I had gone down...I was at 166.5 on Sunday but 165 is GREAT! I am very excited with the loss for this week! That's 3.5 pounds! YAY!!!!

    So...goal wise...I've done good. Recap:
    1. Lose 2 pounds (weigh in at 166.5 next week)---SURPASSED!!!!
    2. Take measurements--DONE! 318.0 inches overall. I will take these once a month.
    3. Bump up my running speed a bit--DONE! Increased by about 0.3 mph.
    4. Avoid ice cream temptations--well...I have eaten a LOT of ice cream...but I usually am within calories. I will try much harder on this one this week!

    So...new mini goals...
    1. Lose another 2 pounds (weigh in at 163 next week).
    2. Avoid the ice cream...I CAN DO IT!!!!!
    3. Mix up my breakfast every day (I tend to eat the same thing for breakfast almost every day and I've heard that it is better to mix it up).

So, these are the goals for this week. I think I will stick to 3 a week!

Katy---OMG! 17.8 pounds so far! That's FABULOUS!!!! Keep it up girl!!!:drinker:

Chipper---Thanks for the luck...I am a little nervous...there are a lot of applicants for this position. And I wish you luck on getting back to it on here! I'm sure you will be fine!!!:flowerforyou:

I hope everyone else is doing well also! Can't wait to hear from you!!!

Oh! I must post...I have lost a total of 9 pounds since re-starting MFP on July 8th! That means 1 more pound to hitting my 10 pound mark! This is always SO exciting for me! I had promised myself I'd treat myself with a new pair of running shoes once I hit 10 pounds since I really need them! I am SO excited! I didn't even realize until I looked at my ticker after updating my weight! YAY!!!

    Had to share!:flowerforyou:

    It IS slow around here!!

Well, my foods for the day have been:

    1: protein shake, oatmeal & 1 banana

2: kamut rotini w/ tomato sauce & ground bison

3: gala apple & luna bar & 1 squares of spanakopita

4: lentil & split pea soup w/ artisan bread slice

5: 1c fresh cut pineapple, 1 banana w/ 1 tbsp natural peanut butter.

I still have 180 cals left over but I'm done for the day once I have my fruit in a bit. I had 650 exercise cals today so I don't feel too bad going under by less than 200. Luna bars are my hero these days - they totally fill me up and I'm loving them as my main afternoon snack!!

I'm feeling so great and motivated by getting into the 180's again!!! So happy
I'm interested to see what my measurements are tomorrow. I'm hoping that within 2 weeks I can hit my 30lbs lost mark. That will be so exciting!!
Well, good night everyone! I may post tomorrow's meals later if I plan it today. :drinker:

Glad to hear you are well Pedalhound! It is SO quite here. I was busy this afternoon with a job interview...but yes...things have slowed in our group. Hope we can all stay motivated! I was bad and AGAIN...had some ice cream tonight. But I stayed in my calories and it is now about gone...so no more temptation. Oh well. Have a great night and I'll talk to you all tomorrow!

It's too bad that there were so many people at the beginning and only a tiny hand-full now. In fact, the person whose idea it was to start this doesn't even post!!! Ah well... we're in it and we're losing and that's the point right?

    How did the interview go??

    Well, good night all. BED!

Great job Kristin, Pedal, and Chipper!

So how did the interview go Kristin??

    Yesterday was good..

Bfast: egg whites, fiber one cereal and 2% milk
    lunch: 1/2 protein bar
dinner: fajita style chicken with diced peppers and onions on salad greens with jalapenos, salsa and qtr cup shredded chz..it was yum!!
exercise: 6 or 7 min on treadmill, 20 min on exercise bike, 35m on elliptical and 30 min of weights.

    Today:
bfast: egg whites, fiber one cereal with skim milk
lunch: left over fajita ckn salad (same as dinner yesterday)
dinner: who knows?? salad probly with turkey
exercise: atleast 30 min on elliptical and atleast 30 min on treadmill...not sure about weights.

Gotta a Q for you guys..what do you think...

I really dont like my schools weight machines, they are hard to use and the leg and gluteal machine is very akward to use...should I just tough it out and deal with it or is there something else I could do to help tone up??
    Thanks for any advice... :flowerforyou:

I hope everyone has a great day!! I'll check back later this evening!

Morning friends! Thanks for being curious about the interview. It went well. I have been in this 3 year temp position for a while now, and have been trying to get on full-time. I have a different interview next Tuesday, but the one I had yesterday really suits me. They have 2 more people to interview this week, so I won't know anything probably until next week. Keeping my fingers crossed.

So...last night was kind of bad. I ate ice cream, I didn't do my Ab workout, and I fell short on my push up numbers. But todays a new day and I think yesterday I was just tired and dehydrated. So, meals for today:

    Breakfast:
    1 c. Mulitgrain Cheerios with 1/2 c. milk, 1 med. banana, 1 c. sliced strawberries, 8 oz. PlumSmart Lite Juice, 1 multivitamin.

    AM Snack:
2 c. coffee, 2 tbsp. sugar free Vanilla caramel creamer, soft-baked Kashi TLC blackberry graham bar.

    Lunch:
1/2 c. fat free cottage cheese, 5 wheat Ritz crackers, 14 baby carrots, AE YoLite yogurt, diet coke.

    Afternoon Snack:
med. apple, 2 chocolate crunch rice cakes, Nature Valley Pecan Crunch granola bar.

    Dinner:
???? Something with ground Turkey that I'm thawing...I'm open to suggestions...

    PM Snack:
    Depends on calories remaining.

Exercise plan--1/2 hour run, 1 hour BodyPump.

I think today will be good. I was up early this morning (went to be at like 9:30) and I'm ready to go! I'm heading to the field this morning...so will get a little bonus walking in the field!

I hope you all have a great day! Let's make sure to keep this small group of us going strong! I don't want to lose ANY of you!!!! WE CAN DO IT!!!!!:flowerforyou:

    Thanks for any advice... :flowerforyou:

So...I suppose that if you want to tone without using weights, lunges and squats are WONDERFUL! Probably some of the greatest exercises there are. Push Ups also. You can easily do these on your own. I think there are some upper body strength exercises that you can do on your own, but machines may be better or free weights if you have access to them. I worked with a personal trainer for a while and we didn't you any machines, only free weights, a bench, and a yoga/stability ball. So...if you have access to these and would like further suggestions, let me know.

    Hope you figure it out...:flowerforyou:

kistin---have you ever tried "skinny cow ice cream sandwiches" ? they are real good. i see you have an ice cream issue LOL. i have one also. these are really good. i haven't tried any of the other many skinny cow treats. i have one every night. my kids told me that they remember always having ice cream in the house growing up. now they have to have it in their homes. shows it's true children learn by example. just thought i would ask.
have a great rest of the week.

Thanks for the advice Kristin! I do have an exercise ball that I try to do like 2x a week! I may just go ahead and use their weights for 2 days..but only the leg curl ones and the arm ones.. I dont think I will mess with anything else, those machines were pretty basic and those are the main strengthening areas anyway. I will just do my crunches with my exercise ball :)

So today was decent! I am exhausted and about to pass out..but need to read some of my biology text first... Lunch and dinner were the same as what I had last night for dinner lol..Gotta love leftovers!! I dont know the calorie content for sure but it shouldnt be too high. Its the old el paso fajita kit mix with sliced chicken, and diced onions and bell peppers (lots!). I also added water to the mix bc it was thick! Well, I put about 1/2 cup to 1 cup of the chicken and veggies on top of a bed of salad greens, with sliced roma tomatoes and then top it with 1/4 cup cheese (sometimes less or even none), add salsa and some jalapeno slices. It is really yummy! I get my protein, and some veggies :)

    So today:
bfast: fiber one cereal skim milk and egg whites
    lunch: chkn fajita salad
    dinner: ckn fajita salad
snack: handful of chips, 1/2 of skinny cow ice cream sandwich..(and yes I agree with chipper, these are AMAZING :) cures that sweet tooth-tastes JUST LIKE the real thing!)

Yea the chips were bad, but when I got home I was starving and that was the first thing I saw..but I kept it to a handful!!
Exercise today... 45 min on treadmill, 20 of it jogging...35 min on elliptical.

Tomorrow will be..not sure yet lol. I'll let you guys know when its all said and done with tomorrow ;)

    Sleep tight everyone..

Morning friends! Katy...I wish you luck with the workouts and let me know if you want any suggestions! Chipper...thanks for the skinny cow suggestion! I haven't had those in years...and yes they are good! Last night I made mock ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Graham cracker (1 sheet in 2 squares) with cool whip free in between...stuck in the freezer for about an hour...so delish!!! I made 2 sandwiches (2 sheets graham cracker, 2 tbsp. cool whip).
    Here's the plan for today:

    Breakfast:
Homemade strawberry yogurt parfait (AE YoLite yogurt, 1 c. sliced strawberries, 3/4 c. whole grain total cereal), 8 oz. PlumSmart Lite Juice, 1 multivitamin.

    AM Snack:
2 c. coffee, 2 tbsp. sugar-free vanilla caramel creamer, soft-baked Kashi TLC blackberry graham bar.

    Lunch:
single tuna in water with 1 tbsp. hellmans reduced mayo, 10 wheat crackers, 14 baby carrots, diet coke.

    Afternoon Snacks:
1 med. apple, 100 cal. pack almonds, Nature Valley Pecan Crunch granola bar.

    Dinner:
    ??????

    PM Snacks:
    ??????

Exercise plan--45 minute Step class, 15 minute Ab workout, Week 5 Day 2 100 PushUp Challenge.

So...hopefully today should go well. I have to go to the grocery store tonight...hopefully I can get some yummy healthy treats! Have a FABULOUS day everyone!!!!

I'm so sad today :frown: My Mama left this morning to go back to Ontario. And very very likely we won't see her again until Christmas. Awful  My mum and I are so close and my children are so attached to her. It's really really hard to see her go. I just found out yesterday that my favourite cousin is in Vancouver for a bit with his son and they may try to come over to the island a visit today. Also my very best friend in the world is coming here for all of September but still... MAMA!!!

So here's my plan for the day:

    1: oatmeal w/ peanut butter & 1/2 a banana

2: chocolate protein shake, 1 string cheese and 1 large fig (if they're at the farmer's market today - last week they told me they should be coming in!)

3: Luna Bar, gala apple, homemade orange cranberry flax muffin (YUM)

4: homemade carrot ginger soup, Ezekiel Low Sodium bread slice w/ 1.5 tbsp natural peanut butter, spinach & strawberry salad w/ balsamic vinegar

5: 4 raincoast crisp hazelnut and cranberry crackers.

I'm not getting much working out in with my guests - I was hoping to hit the gym today or go for a bike ride with my little ones but it will be better to see my cousin.

    Have a great one people!!

    Hi Ladies,

I am very new to chatting online, so I hope it's okay to butt in here. Your posts are very helpful and motivating. I sure could use some motivation. I have been trying for years to lose weight and eventually quit trying, but I have a new determination and know I need a pal/s to help me get through this. Any suggestions? I am 217 now and would like to start by losing 12 pounds for an upcoming wedding at the end of September.

Well, DebLaf...you have come to the right place. This group is trying to lose 20 pounds in 13 weeks...we are on week 6. So...you could even set a goal of losing 10-12 pounds in the remainder of our challenge. We start a new week on Tuesdays and weigh in. I have also been listing mini goals for the upcoming week. We post our meals and exercise daily to help motivate each other and keep ourselves on track. So...feel free to join. We have lost a few people and would be happy to have some new faces!:flowerforyou:

    kistinbee,

Thanks so much for welcoming me. Do you keep track of your calories? I find that very difficult, but know that it makes a difference. Does everyone in the group drink at least 8-8 oz. glasses of water daily, (another task I find difficult)? I'm always hungry and crave sweets, so these are my biggest hurdles for now. I do walk a few days a week and go to an aerobic class 1-2 times per week. Well, I just made myself a smoothie and it is quite good and I think very healthy. The calories are about 550 for the whole pitcher which is at least 2- 10 oz. drinks.

    Ingredients:
12 oz. bag frozen blackberries, thawed & drained
    2 fresh peaches, peeled
    1/4 C. skim milk
6 oz. Vanilla yougert (I used Weight watchers 100 cal.)
    1 Tbs. Honey
    3/4 C. Crushed Ice

Put all in blender and mix. Very Good! Hope you like it.

Welcome to MFP!! And as Kristin said, feel free to join in! This is a great place.

Kristin, thanks so much - my mother and I talk every day and it's not at all uncommon for us to talk for an hour. It's nice when people understand how hard it is to be far apart!

Well, I'm very proud of myself right now. I went to the farmer's market and then stopped at the mall because a store I like had its grand re-opening today. I just wanted to peek at it. Well, on my way into the mall I passed this fabulous chocolate shop and thought about getting a chocolate (I wouldn't normally think of it except that I'm so bummed about my Mum going home - hello emotional eating rearing its ugly head!). But I didn't do it  It wasn't a big struggle or anything, I just kept walking and thought to myself 'no, I don't need that, and tasting chocolate for a moment won't help me stop missing my mother'. I did go and buy a new (GORGEOUS) dark teal scarf at the store as well as a new headband for Ava (my daughter) and a scarf for my Mum but at this point retail therapy is better than emotional eating  Besides, I get my Luna bar in a couple of hours and that will help my sad sweet tooth a little.

Hope everyone's day is going well! Off to have a fresh-picked fig! YUM!

Is this the same kistinbee that was leading the July Goal Challenge? I dropped off for a while, changed my username (used to be hheath), and now I am back and I would like to join this group. I just got out of the habit of logging and exercising and today was my kids first day of school so I decided that it was time. When do you all weigh in and when is the end of the goal? Thanks, HH

No problem! Glad to have you! Yes...I have become VERY good at keeping track of my calories. It's become habit. It will get easier as you continue...I promise. I consider myself lucky because I LOVE water...I drink probably around 12-14 8 oz. glasses daily. I can't seem to get enough. But I work out for about an hour every night and need the extra water with as much as I sweat. I know that some people use to PureLemon (I think that's what it's called) to add to their water so it tastes like...lemon. I think there's a lime one also. I have a HUGE sweet tooth so can totally relate to you on the sweet cravings! I have found some tasty treats that aren't bad.

mock ice cream sandwiches (2 sheets reduced fat graham crackers in 4 squares...put 1 tbsp. Cool whip free on one square and make a sandwich with another square. Do the same for the other sheet/2 sqaures. Stick in the freezer for about an hour...YUM!)

1/2 c. fat free sherbet (any flavor) with 2 tbsp. cool whip free

2 chocolate rice cakes with 1 tbsp. cool whip free on each

Quaker Chocolate granola bites (90 calorie pouches)

And there are many others...I will keep you posted on anything new I find! Can you tell I love cool whip??

Anyways...I wish you luck! Keep posting here and we will help motivate you!!!

I like ice cream, too, but I've started using the 50-cal. Skinny Cow fudge bars. Just one can satisfy my ice cream desire.

You're doing great! Keep up the good work. Wish I could exercise as you do, but walking is about all I'm allowed in my condition (osteoarthritis, lower spine damage, fibromyalgia -- all complicated by a silly fall I had Tuesday night! Saw the doctor this morning and he was a bit worried about fractured ribs and my lower pelvic pain. X-ray will follow, I guess. I gotta stop being so clumsy!):blushing:

OMG :noway: I just HAD to share this ..

I just now weighed myself..outta curiousity..and Im at 220lbs now!!..Im completely dressed, have drank over 100oz of water today and ate all meals except dinner...Can u say unbelievable?!?!?! I normally weigh myself first thing in the morning before breakfast and without a stitch of clothing :blushing: So naturally I know I weigh more in the evening..especially with clothes lol. Wow I am just thrilled.. bc this means that my morning weight is 1-3lbs less than that..yay yay! I wont be changing my ticker until Tuesday morning sooo it still reads 29lbs lost...but hopefully Thursday I will be a couple pf pounds over the 30lb lost mark!!!

So today was a good day..

    Bfast: protein shake
lunch: tuna lunch kit ( used only 1/4 of the packet of reduced fat mayo)
dinner: Im thinkin 1/2 of a healthy choice soup the ckn and rice- and 1/2 of a turkey and provolone chz sandwich
snacks: fiber water and a fiber one bar
exercise today... I did 60 min of various cardio and some weights at my friends apts fitness center...

I am really gonna bust butt this weekend and totally not cheat (well maybe just a tad on a snack- not a whole meal) and hopefully by tuesday I will have made up for being off last week ;) Wish me luck!! I will be looking for a 4-7lb loss on Tuesday! Woo hoo lol!

Check in with u guys later :)
