BUMP?

Options
Okay, I know I'm new here on the site, but generally consider myself fairly savvy... BUT, could someone educate me about "Bump"?? I've seen "bump" posted here & there in different threads... what the heck does that mean?? hahahaha

THANKS!
Angie

Actually, denny described only 1 reason to bump something.

the other, and main reason to do it is to push a post back to the top of the recent posts, so that people see it. It's kind of a mild complement to the post. I.E. if you like a post, and want others to see it or respond, but don't have anything to add, bump the post. The part from denny is basically just an MFP thing as bump's been around since long before there was any such thing as a "recent posts" list.

Shaindi you just click like you are going to respond and then type "bump" and then hit post reply. That way you can go to my topics later and the post will be there for you and easy to find. :)

Im a newbie too... thanks for this topic!

On the same note, what is this "NSV" silliness?

I feel like I'm back in my math/science classes with all the accronyms!

Simple explanation is: whatever you write, bump or any other word, when you are replying to a message it is posting a time/date stamp. Since you just wrote something and save it, it automatically saves the message as a new message; thus bump to the top of the list and the message has more viewing capability.

So, no need to write anything. A simple "." and save will do.

The funny guy with the bumping faces; that was just hilarious for the newbies in message boards.

Try it with any single word....type in the word magpie and the thread will jump (bump) to the top of the list.

NSV is "Non Scale Victory"....for those little victories in life that having nothing to do with stepping on a scale.
