How long after a hysterectomy did you begin to work out again. I know I will ask my doctor during my appointment next week but I was just wondering. I am on week four of the C25K program and feel good right now. I just don't want to lose my momentum of exercising regularly.
Thanks

It was my mother, not me that had one several years ago. it took her over two weeks before she was able to do much more that get up and walk to the bathroom. Although she had prolapse surgury at the same time. I remember her having to hug a pillow every time she sneezed or coughed. They have to make the incision through the lower abdominal muscles so it takes a bit for that to heal up. Your doctor will be able to tell you more but I think it reasonable to expect after a week or two being able to start back doing light walking. it will probably be good for you in fact. Best of luck I hope it goes smoothly for you!0

Well, I am sure it depends also on how good of shape you are before surgery. I can tell you from by experience that when they tell you not to drive for two weeks, there is a reason, you could not muster up the strength to slam the breaks on if you had to. By six weeks I was feeling so much better, but did not regain all my strength and "settle down" for about four months. I did start walking before then, but at my six week check up my stitches were still intact and I was not chancing tearing them for anything. I probably started walking on the treadmill and going to Zumba at eight weeks, but the Zumba was a little much (very straining). I had a hysterectomy and posterior vaginal wall repair. Hope that helps!!0

Thank you for this information. I was hoping that I would be back to normal in three weeks or less, but it doesn't sound like it.0
