Too many calories and not enough fat

Any ideas on how to add more *healthy* fat into my diet without a lot of calories?
I usually eat a lot of chicken, but that still isn't helping increase my fat intake by much.

cook the chicken in EVOO or use EVOO in your salad.

Maybe salmon? It's a rather fatty fish but is SUPER nutritious.

A gram of fat has 9 calories in it. A gram of protein or carbohydrate has only 4 calories. This is because fat is the (or one of the) greatest source(s) of energy -- thus the 9 calories. The higher the fat content, the higher the calories. Sorry. :) There is ONE food I've noticed that is low in calories, but pretty high in fat. It actually blew my mind when I found out... Almond milk! 40 calories for a cup, 3 grams of fat. That's some seriously concentrated fat there. Haha. But, sooooo worth it. Calories are what matters. I'd rather had a full cup for 40 cals than a half a cup of skim for the same amount.

Well, by nature even healthy fats are pretty calorie-dense. However, things like nuts are also generally filling enough so that you do not have to eat a ton of it to gain the benefit. So in your case, look for nuts & nut oils, avocados, delicious fatty fish like salmon, and olive oil.

I am down with the Almond Milk!! However I know that Almond Breeze - Vanilla has 90 calories per cup, but it may be the vanilla flavoring. HAHAA! I don't drink cows milk at all and the Almond milk still has calcium in it too!!!

Adding good fats (and keeping within your cal. limit) can be tricky. I add EVOO whatever I'm making, and I eat lots of nuts. Salmon is a great source of protein and high in Omega-3s, too.

Oops, forgot to mention that it's unsweetened almond milk! Yes, you're right. It's the vanilla sugar flavoring that makes it 90 calories per cup. I've never tired sweetened almond milk, because I went straight for the unsweetened I thought unsweetened tasted a lot like regular milk anyways. There's no need for it to be sweetened -- no need for 90 calories here!

Hmm.....I'm going to have to try that almond milk. Sounds good, and I'm always looking for something to give me more fats, but not overload my cal. for the day. Thanks for the tip!

definitely try! I was so afraid to, but wish I did sooner (reminds me I need to get some!) The plain is just so, so tasty! Especially in granola cereals. mmmmm...... or with a bit of chocolate syrup or nesquik LOL! chocolate almond milk? So yum!

Nuts (for the fiber and protein as well)
    Olive Oil
    Grapeseed oil
    Fish
Take an Omega-3 fish oil tab
2% milk. (2% is 120 cals, vs 90 cals in skim, yet you get beneficial fats from it for only 30 more calories)
Edemame (soy beans). I get the single steamer bags from Sam's Club. Each bag is like 3/4 cups of beans, 150 cals, but loaded with protein, fiber, and poly and mono fats.

Alvacado, 1/4 cup of nuts, 1tbsp of flaxseed oil or olive oil. They all supply good fat..

    Thanks everyone!
Just had salmon with EVOO, edamame, and mushrooms.

About to hit the gym and come back to some fruit and low fat cottage cheese.
That should put me at just about the right amount of fat for the day.
