:flowerforyou: Quick question, if I buy a HRM, do I have to actually wear the watch in order for it to calculate or can it just be near me. I want to monitor calories burned while giving massages but I cannot wear a watch while doing so. All advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance

I have to wear mine. I tried to just put it in the cup holder of my elliptical once, and it didn't read my chest band properly. It may just be my HRM though...just try it out and see :)

I sat mine on the table one time to see how far I could go. The answer is not much more than arms length. When I do my 30 day shred, I fasten it around the strap of my bra to keep from pushing the buttons. You could probably get by with putting it in your pocket or something.

I think you have to have the watch on so it will be close enough to register correctly. I just bought a new HRM the Garmin FR60 and I love it! I had another watch only HRM, and it did not work at all. Definitely get one with a chest strap. My Garmin had the option to buy an upgraded chest strap that is very comfortable. You wouldn't even know you had it on! It is great!

I barely ever wear mine when working out at home. I've been at least 10 feet from it and not had any issues. When I run on the treadmill, I just hook it around one of the handles. sometimes my trainer wears it too...

P.s. Mine has a chest strap....
