Hey MFP! well i was wondering if you guys can help me out and give your opinions....
I had a baby almost 5 months ago & I have heard two stories; One that its very easy for you to lose weight after you have a baby and the other that its the hardest to lose weight after giving birth and i seem to be having trouble losing weight (i eat the best i can & with 3 kids dont have much to workout an hour at the most) while i have heard alot of people say "it took you 9 months to put it on, its going to take you 9 months to take it off" but dont know which is true???? or maybe everybody is different?

I think its mostly that every body is different. Im sure you have heard of women who have lost tonnes of weight just through breast feeding, then there are others who lose nothing at all.
The truth is that it did take 9mths to put on the weight and unless you are super rich you wont have a personal trainer to kick your butt, or a cook to prepare you lovely nutritious meal, or for that matter a night nanny so you can get your 7+hrs of sleep a night that you need.
Do your best to stay within your calorie allowance and go for a walk or do other exercise when you can, but mostly be gentle to yourself. Your baby is still so little and time goes so quickly. The whole first year after having my boys is pretty much a blur.0 -
everybody is different and every baby is different. i have 4 kids and with my first i was back to a size 4 2 weeks after i had him, my second i lost it slower took 6 weeks to lose it, my third is 10 and i went home from the hospital in a size 5, now with my 4th, she will be 7 in a month and 1 day and i still havent lost it all. so dont get discouraged, it will happen you just have to work for it.
not alot of time to workout try zumba. i love it and most days i do a 45 minute workout and it has shown results, i dont weigh myself because my scale is on crack somedays. it will give me my real weight one day and say i weigh almost a hundred lbs more the next which is impossible lol. so i measure every monday or tuesday and with zumba i lost an inch between my first measure day and my second then another inch by my third measure day just 1 week between each.
you can add me if you want to, the more friends the merrier and i will help you out the best i can.0 -
I don't think the weight itself is any harder to take off than any other weight gain, but finding time to get in sleep, exercise, and cook/prep good for you stuff is tough.
My first, I didn't lose the weight for like two years. My second, I still hasn't lost the weight from her when I got pregnant again 3 years later. With the third, I was 12lbs lighter after I delivered than when I got pregnant. A year later, I'm still struggling to get the other 60 lbs (that's right, 70lbs gained with one pregnancy!) off. I know the reason I've had so much trouble is having to take care of kids, husband, apartment, cat, running all of the finances, working full time (until I had #3), and giving Atlas a break by taking the world onto my shoulders, I kinda threw myself to the back of the list when it came to making time to accommodate everyone's needs. I've just recently decided that this is no longer something I'm willing to accept.
I found a gym that has a Kids Club program that my kids can be in up to two hours per day Monday - Saturday so I can get gym time in. I also decided to start finding ways to modify what I ate while still dealing with my husband and kids' tastes. I got bagel and sandwich thins to use when we're having some sort of sandwiches. Started buying extra lean ground beef for all uses of that. Little things that I can either just change my meal, or change the whole meal while not offending anyone else's taste buds.
Good luck to you! Don't beat yourself up, but don't let yourself be pushed to the back of the list0 -
i have 3 kids too- aged 4 1/2, nearly 3 and 6 months.
for me, i gain weight after having the kids! i think it's going from working full time to pretty much stopping and enjoying daytime tv waaay too much!
i weighed 97kg's before getting preg with my 1st. i weighed 110kgs at 8 1/2 months preg, then i weighed 104kgs 4 mnths after having her..
with number 2 i weighed 100kgs before being preg, stopped counting at 110kgs when preg, and weighed 107kgs 6 months later.
then i thought 'i'm a fatty' and embarked on 3 months of proper diet and exercise, then got preg weighing 96kgs. went up to the usual 110kgs, then pretty much hovered around 98-99kgs for a while. i've been back exercising for about 3 months now (only 3 weeks with MFP) and i'm down to 94kgs.
so, i don't know what the answer is. all i know is that i don't focus on losing weight. i focus on taking 45 mins most days just to have for me so my head doesn't explode. and i value that time. and i feel so much better for it and like i've achieved something. then i come home and feel like actually spending quality time with my kids.
which isn't the answer to your question, is it!!!!!0 -
yea it seems like everybody is different then i have 3 kids also and with my 1st i lost the weight after a week wearing my size 3 jeans lol after my 2nd i lost some of the weight fiting into my size 7 jeans and now after my 3rd i am back to how i was before i got pregnant a size 9 or 11 which as you ladies know is a BIG difference from being a size 3 but yes ive come to realize that being a mom full time is very hectic and its going to take time to lose weight fast if you dont have much time to workout i workout everyday even if its an hour even though ill admit i break it up ill do 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon i havent lost much weight but i am seen a difference in how my clothes feel so that a big step thank you girls for the comments!!!0
