 Why? Why do people have the need to pierce the ears of an infant? Why do this if they can't even afford pampers? Does that seem silly to you or am I being impractical?

I pierced my daughters ears when she was about 9 months old.......purely as later she would be more concious of the fear that comes with body parts being pierced and hurt associated with it. I wouldn't do it if I couldn't afford nappies though.0

It might be the lack of a selfless lifestyle choice.
Honestly, I don't think you are being impractical. I'm sure you could have wrote a novel on situations of why others make irresponsible decisions and their excuses on why they do it.
I know I definitely could!!0 -
Just one of many examples of low priority.0

I was going to say maybe to show everyone that their bald baby is a girl, but I have seen plenty of baby boys with pierced ears now.
On my daughters I waited until they asked. (which was btwn 7-9)0
