Any Type 1 Diabetic's out there who have had a lot of success (or even a little success) with losing weight? I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear what your thoughts are on controlling and managing your Diabetes whilst trying to shed some pounds.

I've been a Diabetic for 20 years now (diagnosed at age 8!) and I've always had problems with weight control, my energy level and trying to keep my sugars reasonable.

Any advice, help, funny stories, etc are welcomed!!!

Thanks!!! :flowerforyou:

Yeah, that would be me. Type 1 and losing weight slowly by low carbing. I've never had better blood glucose levels and I'm full of energy. I've also managed to lower my insulin intake by half.
How are you doing? What sort of diet/exercise regime are you using?

    Hey!!!

I have been a type 1 diabetic since I was 6...I have had it now for 15 years. I don't know that I really feel that I have ever had much luck in losing weight. I am losing it now but I have always been a yoyo dieter...hopefully breaking that this time = ) I always get irritated with low BS's But honestly they seem to not be as bad now. When I first start a diet is the hardest because my body has to get used to the new eating habits. I have always been pretty active though.

I'm so glad to have met another type 1 on here!! It is weird how hard it is to find other diabetics sometimes on sites like this one!! Although I do not let my diabetes get in the way of my life, I do get irritated with it sometimes when it comes to dieting! Maybe we can help each other stay motivated!! = )

Well... I've been doing a low-cal, low-carb diet and trying to hit the gym at least 4 times a week. HOWEVER, I really didn't realize how many calories I was eating until I started logging them on this site. I've also had problems with binge eating for the past few years.. and it's obviously been kicking my *kitten*... hehe.
I'm really hopeful that focusing on the calories, daily exercise and staying aware of carbs will help me slash my insulin intake and get my AIC below 12 (yep, I know.. 12 is HIGH!)
