What are you eating? And why aren't you exercising at all?

I am happy to hear that you are up and walking around. How is your knee doing? Did you need surgery? You body may need time to adjust to the limited exercise and reduce calories. Are you eating all your calories and making up the ones you burn while exercise?

Depending on what you're eating your gaining from it despite the 1200-1500 calories. You won't lose weight without exercise or at least not a lot. Exercising, especially with cardio, will boost your metabolism and help you burn fat. You should try to workout. I was surprised at how much I lost just adding workouts 3 times a week for and hour. I also don't eat the calories I burn, or I feel like I've done nothing at all. Other people would say otherwise though. It's really up to the person. Hope everything works out!

I've been eating so well. Apples, other fruit, veggies, grilled chicken, steak sandwiches with just steak and ketchup. Everything so healthy and cereal and an apple every morning for breakfast. I just got off crutches for the past 2 weeks but now I'm ok to be active as of tomorrow

Has your weight changed? Are you on any medication?

Even though you are eating 1200-1500 it all depends on what you are eating. You may want to evaluate what you are eating and make changes were necessary. Start exercising, eating healthy and working out and the weight loss will follow.

You absolutely can lose weight without working out. For the first few months I was calorie counting I lost 18 pounds and I couldn't work out at all due to an injury.

Nutrition is the most important part of weight loss. Working out is important for health but you can lose weight without it

I could also be how you are eating. For example eating at least 3 meals a day, including breakfast. I prefer to get at least 2 snacks a day as well. Also ketchup is full of sugar and sodium.

My BMR is 1,346 if i ate 1,500 calories i'd get a lot bigger in a very short space of time.
Maybe you should make sure your always below your BMR?!

Agree, you can definetly lose weight without exercising.. The exercise just speeds up the process and helps you to be toned and better shape. Check what your eating making sure you have a good ratio of carbs, protein and fats. It's important that when you cut yourself that low on calories you are taking in the best kind of calories...Good Luck

without knowing what you are eating it is hard to nail down a specific cause, however you may be under eating for your body and that can cause an effective stop to fat loss, this is why I advocate a cleaner diet and a healthier approach to fat loss, on of my fav authors Tom venuto wrote a ebook called Burn the muscle feed the fat and it is a great book that clears away the BS about weight loss, makes it simple and most of all it works and you feel great. I have followed what he wrote and built upon my knowledge base and fat loss has never been easier for me. I have written several bits on here regarding healthy fat loss, here is a link the most recent one I wrote that may help answer some questions for you. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/229885-a-handbook-for-your-body

BMR is what you are burning while simply resting, the minute you stand up and move you are burning more calories I eat well above my bmr and the fat is melting off me quite easily, so you are slightly incorrect on this and maybe need to look at what you believe is correct about BMR.

Maybe just ditch the bread and cereal. And they do make low sugar ketchup, I've tried it, tastes a little different at first but youget over it.

My BMR is like 1800. So yeah no problems eating under that lol. And I eat nothing but healthy. I never go over my sodium limits and what do you think I could eat for breakfast other than cereal. I get sick when I eat eggs so I don't think I'd eat that

My bmr is around 1700 and I eat 1940 cals a day and shed fat easily, my guess would be that you are not eating enough my friend, try raising that to 1800 a day for a week and see what the results are. Here are my stats for a reference for you to see what works for me.

    My stats: 5ft 8
    current weight: 167.4
    Starting weight: 198
    Set to a 1 lb/wk loss
    1940 cals a day
    bmr 1668
I workout 3-4 times a week average burn is 750 cals
I also eat back around 90% or more of my exercise cals and lose consistently.
You do not need to eat below your bmr to shed fat, you just need to eat less than what you burn, and as soon as you are moving you are burning much more than your bmr so raise your cals and get back on track.
