I heard that elliptical's are great for exercise and tried it a couple of times. But each time after I do it my back hurts horrendously and I cannot stand, walk or basically move! It hurts too bad! Is this normal? Has this happened to anyone else? any feedback is great b/c I really want to get one but not if it is going to be like this every time! thanks!

I think you should assess your posture while doing the exercise.
It could be the way you're standing or moving, that causes such pain later.
Hope it stops hurting for you!! :)
  • I've never had this happen. I've been using my elliptical for almost a month now.

Are you stretching before you exercise?

I've never had that problem, and I've been using one at the gym for almost two months. I would say maybe you're standing weird on it, or maybe you should consult with your doctor to make sure you don't have some kind of back issue starting. Sorry you're having a hard time with it.

Are you doing this at a gym? get the front desk to have someone show you if you can....

Posture is key as someone else already said....the elliptical you need to make sure your feet are planted....all the movement should be in your heals...not on the balls of your feet or toes.....

I had many issues when i first started and talked to a personal trainer at the gym....most gyms they are pretty nice and helpful if you have questions....

check your shoes as well...if the pain continues...see your Dr
