Hi there,
I am starting a job term tomorrow for my Continuing care course ( know as any of the above depending on where you live) Just a question for all my fellow frontline caregiver out there.
What do you log your job as?
If I change my setting to lightly active it only allots me an extra 20 calories. A google search I did showed "elder care, care for disable adult" 60 mins as a burn of 220 calories, and Im sure on a 12 hr shift (what I will be doing all week) I would be doing direct "care" for 2-3 hours at least.

This is a tougher job than just 'lightly active' for sure. I work as a convenience store clerk and I do enough jogging around the store, lifting of boxes (50lbs and lighter) that I am confident in my choice as 'active'. You are doing much heavier lifting than me, I would consider you "active" at least, possibly even 'very active'.
Do you workout when you get home? If you do, that is definitely 'very active'.
I don't think we should add our jobs as 'exercises'. I don't have any clear reasons why not to, it just doesn't make sense to me at all. I log my exercise as exercise, things I do for the purpose of getting stronger and burning calories.0 -
I do exercise at home. I agree with you,I try to keep my job under my activity level, and any additional exercise under my exercise log.
I do normally do additional exercise, but this will be my first time doing 12 hr days so I have no idea how I'll be feeling by the end of the day0 -
Yeah those are long days. I am assuming you will only work 3 days a week though? If that is the case you can still benefit from exercising on days off when you are too pooped to do things after work.0

I will be doing 4 days this week, but its two days on two days off . I will definitely be exercising on my days off! As I am a bit of an exercise lover right now.0
