white rice recipes?
I'm a tight wad, and refuse to throw away food. I have a huge bag of white rice I'm trying to use up then will switch to eating better for you brown rice. Anyone have any tried and true receipes for white rice that they would like to share so I can use it up.
I have a handy- dandy microwave rice cooker, so am able to make it fairly easily.

Once you make your white rice, toss it with 1 TBS oil, chopped cilantro & squeeze a whole lime into it. Mix well.0

You can still eat white rice, just use in moderation. I like dumping garlic, onions, and lime juice on my rice.0

I like chicken parmesan on top of white rice rather than with spaghetti noodles.
I also like to mix in some black beans & corn & some skinless chicken...you can also add in some sour cream & shredded cheese.....yummmm!
Or...add in a can of creamy chicken & mushroom soup....delish!0 -
There's a dish that I make that my daughter (a 5 year old) and husband love. It uses one bag of boil in bag rice (makes ~2.25 cups cooked). I start off with a large skillet (that has a lid) and brown one pound of ground turkey. I throw a little low sodium seasoned salt and garlic powder on it to season. Once that's brown, I pour into the skillet one can (12oz) tomato sauce then 12oz of water. Then I open the uncooked bag of rice and pour the rice in. I add some onion powder, a touch of chili powder, and a dash more garlic powder. Cover and cook on med-low until the rice is tender, making sure to stir now and again. You'll need to stir more toward the end so the rice doesn't burn and add additional water if needed. This finished product is not watery at all; the rice absorbs most of the sauce. One quarter of the skillet =313 calories. Add a side salad and you're good to go for dinner!0

I like white rice with meatloaf. It is good when served with any saucy meat dish. I am from South Carolina, so I use many of the SC regional dishes. Rice as a cereal for breakfast. Black eyed peas over rice. Greens (kale, collards, etc) served over rice. Chili over rice. RIce used in stuffed green peppers or meatloaf instead of cracker crumbs or bread.0

I use my rice steamer to make rice all the time.
I add chicken boullion and orzo and rice pilaf
chicken boullion and rosemary or thyme for a side dish,
You can use chicken broth instead of boullion.
I also make it plain and serve a chicken stirfry or broccoli and beef over it.0 -
Hey, thanks for all the great ideas. I was getting a bit sick of eating plain white rice as a side dish. I forget I have lots of beans and other vege's I can add to the rice to make it more of a meal than a side-dish.0
