Hi all! Just a question about sizes. I have lost 37 lbs (from 163 to 126 and 5 foot) and I know I have gone down in size but my sizes are all over the place. I try on a juniors size 9 and can't get them buttoned but a womans size 6 shorts are too big. I'm 30 and not really ready to dress in womens clothing (no offense) and still want to look young and cute but well covered. Where should I shop and is anyone else having this issue? I've had 2 kids my last one being 16 months ago and I don't know if my hips are more spread out since I had her but I'm really having issues finding proper fitting clothes. Thanks for your help!

How tall are you? Just thinking you may have more luck in the petites section

Edited -- seeing that you're 5 feet -- you should definitely be able to find a good fit in the petites section! Or is it that you don't like the "womanly" styles in the petites?

Juniors sizes are cut differently -- they're for teenagers that haven't developed hips yet. What you want are "misses" or "petite" sizes. If a six is too big, try a 4 or 4P (petite).

im 5'2 and 125 and also 30 with 2 kids, Gap sz 2, Rickis sz 2 (or 26), Dynamite sz 3-4. But all stores are sized different don't get hung up on sizes and just find what you like and get whatever size fits your body right

Try shopping at stores that cater to 20-30 somethings, like H&M and Gap, or if you're hitting up the department stores go for brands like Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, and INC (at Macy's) or Vera Wang & Daisy Fuentas (at Kohls). You won't find these brands in the Juniors dept, but IMO they're much more stylish, better quality, and have a wayyyyy better fit for our bodies!

I LOVE Old Navy. I feel like their sizes are true to standard. Banana Republic is also AMAZING but more expensive. I remember when I was 20 and thin, I was a medium most places and a small at Banana Republic so I feel those sizes are true to standard as well. ( they are owned by the same company, Gap inc.)

My favorite jeans all come from American Eagle. At 5 feet you'll be able to find jean sizes in regular as well as petite inseams plus they have a bit of give to them. They do typically have a lower rise (but I've been told that the new spring styles aren't so low) but if you're looking for a higher rise the GAP would be a great option for you.
Give AE a shot for a reasonably priced pair of jeans :)

Thanks everyone for your input. I don't particularly like the juniors section but I'm having a tough time finding shorts that are flattering on me. I have super short legs so anything too long makes my stubby legs look non existent, lol! I will definitely check out the gap and kohls.

I have always had luck with American Eagle. Granted, I am 5'9 size 4 there but they have short, reg and long lengths. Even before I lost weight I always wore there jeans....Something about there jeans I love and have always have had good luck there, plus there prices realyl are not that bad. Give them a try!

Thanks! I'm definitely goin to check out AE. I wear their undies from Aerie but have not been in the store since I was in high school. Maybe I can find some decent shorts between AE and the Gap. I live in Fl so jeans are out for now because it's already in the 90's, lol.
