Does anyone here go to OA? Thinking about joining but can't find a meeting near me. Just wondered if it has helped anyone.
Thanks :flowerforyou:

I'd like to go if I could find a group that wasn't so small and I could kind of relate to. I went to one, and it was 5 people plus me in a small meeting room in the library, and it was really mechanical and had too much religious/"spiritual" undertones to me.0

I want to buy the book online but I don't know if you have to attend meetings as well?0

I've just started going, and it is amazing. I was lucky and found a great group my first try. There are usually 5-8 people that go. I was worried about the religious overtones at first, but since I've attended a few meetings I get now that the "higher power" is anything you want it to be. So basically it's ok if my higher power is a spiritual earth mother goddess woo woo hippy figure LOL
Books are a good start, but meetings are essential if you can get to them. My weekly meeting is what "grounds" me and keeps me on track. It's a great way to hear other stories of recovery as well as get support and find a sponsor.0
