Anyone heard of this, have an opinion on it, anything? I work part time at a pharmacy and the pharmacist said he read an article about it and actually was convinced enough to give it a try. Some researcher wrote about serotonin levels in the body and how low levels can cause you to feel hunger more. The 5 htp is supposed to help level this out. I googled it, read some reviews about it, and so far have found more positive reviews than negative. Just wondered if anyone else has tried the 5 htp, or had any experience or knowledge about it?

And let me finish by saying I KNOW there are no miracle cures to weight loss, no magical pill that can make you wake up looking like Jennifer Aniston, so PLEASE, I am not looking for opinions on this about how taking a pill is the wrong way to lose weight. I am simply looking for information on something I read/heard about to help understand. Thanks.

I like it. It seemed to help my mood. Lets face it, when we want something really high in calories and settle for something else time and time again, we get cranky. It helped me control my carb control and mood. Its isn't a miracle but it helps.

and I'm not looking for a miracle drug, believe me I have tried enough snake oil over the years and that is NOT what this is about. I like the fact that this is a naturally occurring compound already found in the body. I'm not wanting a stimulant, diet aid, whatever. I'm looking for something to help, something that won't make me feel jittery, or moody or damage my heart/body as so many diet pills on the market have been shown to do. Thanks, hopefully the opinions will keep coming in.

Looks really interesting, but the possibility of developing eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome is worrying. I have always had a problem with mild depression and being overweight, so this could be a huge help if it's safe! Looking forward to hearing from others on this.

Well I tried it because I am secerly depressed and all of the anti depressants that are not supposed to make you gain weight cause me to sweat really bad. Besides Wellbutrin. So it helps with my mood but I swear it makes me hungry..which is ok cause I need to gain not lose. I know I am not supposed to take it if I am on other meds but I dont always do what I am told. So if anyone is on any kind of anti depressant already dont take it..it can cause seizures. I figure I am ok since I am missing the majority of my bowel..things dont stay with me... Just want to make sure that people know you cant take the 2 together lol good luck
