Question about Exercise Calories

I'm moving this week from the basement to the 4th floor of my building. NO ELEVATORS!! It's pretty much just going to be me moving my boxes. I'm tracking the exercise and it's telling me that according to the "moving household items/packing boxes" catagory that if I do this for 3 hours a day (an hour at lunch and two hours after work, cuz even I know I can't walk up and down four flights of stairs continuously) that I'll rack up 1163 extra calories. (it doesn't take into account that I'm walking up those stairs)
Clearly I can't eat all of those.. what would be a good happy medium ? I'm doing 1340 cals a week for the 1lb a week loss.

personally I wouldn't worry about it and maybe treat myself to some pizza after all that work and a beer or glass of wine. Because its not going to be the norm to be hauling that everyday. but thats me and I have no facts or figures to back up my thoughts just what I would do. Happy moving and burning of the calories.
If you really wanted to track it you could time how long it takes you to lug a load up the stairs and then keep track of how many times you go up and down and figure for stair stepping or something. Wouldn't take long to eat the calories back with crap foods/beverages.0 -
I would say 1/2. Especially since it's not on-going (i.e. 4 hours continuously) because your heart rate will have time to come back down. Also, consider what your BMR is for 3 hours and you can subtract those from what MFP says your burning -- if you were sitting on the couch for that long you would still be burning calories, you know? And make sure you keep drinking lots of water. Good luck with your move!0

Go have dinner WITH dessert! Wow! I can't believe that many calories get burned that way. I couldn't do it upstairs because of my arthritis, but I move boxes around at my job. You're making me curious. I can't imagine what other suggestions I could make. You can't add calories any other way other than eating. I'm sure Dairy Queen has a nice selection of high calorie choices.0

I counted the steps at lunch. There are 42 steps one way! So that's 84 round trip and I made 10 trips at lunch alone. I'm gonna go calculate that somehow. lol.0
