What I learned...

On April 27, 2011, Wednesday afternoon, the state of Alabama was ravaged with tornado after tornado. The amount of destruction is unbelievable, but yet, it is all too real. Me and my family were extremely fortunate that all we lost was power. For four and a half days.

I learned some things about myself..

1) I'm a spoiled individual. I am totally dependent on all thing electrical. I learned that I can survive without my microwave, my hot water heater (even though, I didn't really like it), my tv, and my computer.

2)People are generally good. I saw some amazing selflessness going on around me, and it gave me new hope in humanity. There were still the same old *kitten* but the good outweighed the bad.

3)I can eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches everyday for lunch and be glad I had food. I had grilled hamburgers (real ground beef, not the lean kind), grilled hotdogs, every night for supper. That stuff tore up my insides. Not healthy at all, but sustainable.

4)I have some amazing friends of MFP. I was able to pick up a signal on my cellphone and I logged in to let them know what was going on, that I was ok, and the amount of support and good feelings I received was truly appreciated and made me feel on top of the world! And I've never even met these wonderful people! THANK YOU, ALL OF YOU!!

5)I tend to take my food choices, my exercise WAY to seriously. I wasn't able to track my food, track my exercises. I just ate when I got hungry and exercised when I was able. And I didn't fall apart. I am tickled beyond reason that I have power now, and I'm getting on track today. But! I'm not going to let myself sweat the small stuff! It. Is. All. Good.

If anybody is interested, you can go to youtube and type in Cullman, AL tornado, or Tuscaloosa tornado, or just Alabama tornado, and actually see the damn things do their thing. It is absolutely scary.

Peace
