So, it's my eighth year teaching and this night does not ever get easier....I meet 60 new 6th grade students of mine tomorrow. I'm nervous, probably won't sleep much tonight, but I've prepared as much as I can. In relation to losing weight, I must say I'm more confident....the funny thing is -is that of course teachers have meetings etc. before school starts and the only people who've noticed are the males. The females I work with have not mentioned one ****** thing. It's so weird because these are people I call my friends and I know it's only 9 pounds, but on my frame I've lost it evenly and I'm sorry, but it IS evident. I'm pissed that the women I work with, the catty petty types, can't give one freaking compliment. One woman I work with who is older noticed it the moment she saw me and I told her about MFP. She had gastric bypass years ago and I guess her daughter needs help too. So, I know this is not all in my head. UGh...people piss me off sometimes...I'm not looking for an award here, just some recognition from the people who I thought would be more congratulatory...my close work friends who are always complaining about how damn fat they are anyway...there's my rant. Sorry if there are punctuation errors, school doesn't start until tomorrow.

    hey you!!!

    First....GREAT JOB!!!

    Second....GREAT JOB!!!

{giggles} I think you are gonna rock the party tomorrow at school and be one of those hawt teachers the little boys have secret crushes on.... ....as for the female teachers that pretend not to notice, its most likely jealousy honey, don't get mad, be proud....and I sort of feel bad for them.....if they are that insecure that they can't say something nice then that's thier sad problem not yours!

You've done a great job and you're going to start a great job educating those precious little minds...so thank you from a mommy who thinks teachers rock! and you walk w/ your head up high...kill em w/ your kindness...and your KILLER BOD! woot!:drinker:

    hugs!

Congratulations on the loss, I bet you look great! I think for alot of people it is hard to give compliments about weightloss because they don't want to imply that you were overweight before hand. It is a double edge sword in a way. I hope that you know that you look and feel great, that is what truly matters. Good luck on a successful school year!

Thanks Ali106...it's not my fault they are bitter women....they exist everywhere, in fact I used to be one miserable chick before I started on this journey. I wouldn't have given me a compliment. I really needed this, I was into some very unhealthy habits in order to feel thin for years. So, their issues are not mine to fix. I can only worry about myself. Just goes to show that people you work with should not be considered close friends no matter how much you socialize outside of work, they're just acquaintances at the end of the day, at least at my job they are......

First off congrats on your loss. Secondly don't give the ladies you work with any thought. I did hear anything all last year about losing weight till the last 2 months of school. Now over the summer I haven't lost anything but I am determined to get back on track.

We don't start till the second and we have inservice meetings tommorow and Friday.

Anyway good luck with your new students. You can make this happen.:flowerforyou:

Congrats on 46 pounds lost...if I knew you, I'd give you a plaque!!!! Don't down your accomplishment, that's amazing....I guess maybe I need to lose more to make it so darn obvious...maybe I'm reading too much into this...but I really thought they would notice...whatever...I'm done with this....I've got 60 new amazing little ones to learn about and teach...they are the focus....I am terrified but cannot wait. :glasses: :noway:

LOL so totally understand. I will soon mee the kindergarten class for this year.:noway: Probably between 80-150 kids not sure yet registration is not done. I work specifically with them on reading, math and writing.

Though I have been told I may get to move. I really hope its a good move. I would love a good teacher that I can enjoy working with.

    Good luck.

    Congratulations.

You will be wonderful tomorrow. You are in charge. And you look marvelous.:flowerforyou:

Sometimes women don't mention weight lost because it would point out that you might have needed to lose it. (Not always, there are catty women out there as you well know.)

I'm going to be in your shoes in just a couple of weeks when the first day starts! I'm actually going to my classrooms tomorrow to start getting them set up. Best of luck tomorrow! Remember, they're just as nervous as we are! :)

The females I work with have not mentioned one ****** thing.

I too went through this, and felt quite betrayed. I think it may just be that MEN look closer at women then women do, for the most part. It pi$$ed me off, though, to hear women notice my husband's weight loss, and then say not a damn thing about mine. So think about that.

Oh, yes, and I start school on Tuesday next week, but my students are all incarcerated, so they talk to me every day as I walk past their living units to my classroom.

Can I just put this out there --

Some people complain when you do notice and others complain when you don't say anything. I never know when it is appropriate anymore so although I am thinking -- wow she looks fabulous I say.. nada - cause I have heard this... Why was I fat before??
If it's a guy - they're easier to read.... and you can say HEY man you look awesome. Compliment taken no biggie. So maybe cut some slack and you do this for you.. and you look fabulous.
