I always go over on Protein.
Is this going to hurt me?
What is the ideal amount of protein for me to get?
I'm trying to lose weight, and build/maintain lean muscle.
Feedback is appreciated!

Thanks!! :]

You will be fine. Your muscles want that protein. You have to go insanely over on protein to have anything to worry about. Just make sure you eat plenty of vegetables to offset the acidity from protein.

What's your daily goal set at, and how much over do you usually go?

For a balanced diet protein can be between 15 and 30%, the more you workout the higher on that end you should be. FYI, MFP defaults to 15%.

It depends on what you've set for your ratio of carbs/protein/fat. I think MFP keeps it at 50/20/30, but you can always manually change those goals if you've decided to up your protein intake. Play around with your protein goals. How many grams of protein are you getting a day?

EDIT: erickirb covered the actual MFP standard setting...

EDIT: ahhh you changed it. I was like i didn't say anything
    lol

Yes it's okay to go over on protein. As long as you're under on something else so that your cals aren't over for the day.
If you wanna message me what your current percentages are and what you're goals are I'd be happy to help you set up your macros a little better.
MFP keeps them low in my opinion and if you're trying to lose fat without losing muscle, you want a protein-rich diet.

I'm going over the MFP goal every day.
I think it has me set to get 40-something grams of protein, but I've been averaging 60-80.

Sheesh that's nothing! I try to get 100g protein every day! Have a look at your ratios and maybe tweak them a bit. Higher protein will push down your carbs and'or fat.

Its not going to hurt you as long as your total calorie intake stays under. Its more important to stay above your protein intake than it is to be under. The more protein you have, the more lean calories you have to feed your muscles. Calories from protein is a good thing. This will help you maintain muscle during your diet and excercise. Which will direct your weight/mass loss to fat instead of weight loss from muscle. The more muscle you have, the more calories your body will be able to burn all day long.
