Some people seem to be missing the BIG part of my OP that said why would she bug me to eat low carb when eating carbs hasn't hurt my weight loss at all. I didn't push my way on her and that's what I had aproblem with.

I was calling the particular diet my friends are on a fad diet not the whole low carb life style. She has no intention of living that way as a lifestyle she's doing it to lose weight and then plans on adding them back into her diet.

It is intensely irritating when people like to suggest their way of dieting - particularly when they've been doing it for a week and you've been pretty successfully doing it your way for ages. I don't mind positive chats and swapping suggestions but I've had people say things like 'oh my god, you so need to cut out sugar'. Really? I'll just take the 40lbs I've lost and write that off to, what, luck then? The only thing you can do is shrug it off and carry on doing what works for you. Plus I know it's just a matter of time before people on extreme diets fall off or regain - I've done it myself in the past!

. Carbs may not be evil to you, but what about my friends son who has cancer that is on a gluten free diet, I guarantee he considers some carbs evil!!!
Ok seriously? I'm allergic to shell fish does that mean shell fish is evil?
You are taking my post entirely the wrong way, my point was why is she pushing HER way on ME when I'm happily losing weight doing what I am?

I've said it before. If you want to avoid getting into a heated, no-win argument, avoid discussing religion, politics and carbs.

I agree that carbs aren't evil. I eat whole grains and plenty of them, and I've had no trouble reaching my goals that way. Eating a low-carb, high-protein diet is *not* more satisfying to me, and eating more fat doesn't make me feel more satiated, no matter how many times I hear statements that it will. That said, if low-carb works better for some people, who am I to argue? That's just silly. The only problem I have with either side of the argument is when people try to convince the other side that they're wrong or when they resort to insults and wise cracks when describing people who have an opposing point of view.

Well put!! I don't think the posts of those who are eating low-carb were at all looking for a heated argument. They seem to be simply stating... what works for some doesn't work for others. I wish I had the will power to limit my carbs more just to see if it would help me lose some more weight as reducing calories hasn't worked for me lately.

I had a lot of success losing weight on Atkins, but after six months I couldn't sustain that lifestyle and I gained it all back. I missed fruit and many of my favorite vegetables. Now with this program, I am loosing well and I also haven't had to give up anything. I eat chocolate, whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, all fruits and veggies. I know this is sustainable for me because I have continued to lose while going out to dinner with friends, going to BBQs, having potlucks at work and traveling. This is what will work long term for me.

I am proud that you are losing weight and that you found something that works for you. I just was showing how carbs are evil for some people. if you posted a thread that said "shellfish aren't evil" i would have to disagree that to some people they are. some people credit the low carb lifestyle to changing their lives for the better! to curing diseases, to making them be able to live again. so that's why so many people took it the wrong way. however, i didn't, i understand that you are just proud that you found a way that works for you.
