Me and my daughter are signed up to run the Nike Womans Marathon in October. I am looking for some tips and advice. I am now just up to 3 miles. I am 57 years old.

    Hi there,

Awesome job signing up :) I ran my first half in feb and looking forward to my second in october.

I used Hal Higdons Half training guide as a great basis for my training http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/
Check it out - there are three levels and lots of great advice from a veteran marathon runner!

    Good luck!! x

Try this. He really knows what he's doing. His marathon scheduled really worked for me when I ran a full marathon and I use it when I train my athletes as well.

Congrats!! I completed my first half in February, and hoping to build my motivation back up to do another on in November. There is also a really good program on marathonrookie.com . My suggestion is stick to your training. I fell off the wagon and didn't train like I should have so I ended up getting a knee (IT Band) injury at about mile 4, so by the time I reached the finished line, I was in so much pain, even though I could only walk most of the way to the end. I will stick to training better next time. Lesson learned.
