Specifically speaking, lets say, 4 light beers vs 4 bacardi and diet coke?

Depends on your body. I wouldn't have a hangover from either of those. But four glasses of wine? Does me in every time.

Generally, the beer in that amount wouldn't give me a hangover, HOWEVER, I am thinking of branching off into rum in an effort to cut calories and beer bloat. Also, I am trying NOT to eat bad after drinking, too, so that makes my hangovers worse.

Really? Interesting.. I'll have to look for that episode!

Another hangover mystery I've always wondered about is why mixing different forms is supposed to give you a bad hangover? (Like doing a couple shots while drinking beer)

And, if you drink hard alcohol before beer, are you really "in the clear" for a hangover?

Top shelf liquor is the only way I avoid a hangover.
But four light beers wouldn't give me one.

The best thing to avoid the nasty hangover is to mix liquor with juice or water. This way your rehydrating your body as your dehydrating it. I hope that makes sense. :flowerforyou:

    Go Mythbusters!!

I am very weird, I guess. I get bad hangovers from rum and vodka, but I am fine with tequila and whiskeys. Most people are the opposite.

I think it's the sulfites in cheap liquor that do it, to be honest.

(Also, get hangovers from beer and not from wine unless it's wayyy cheap wine)

I wouldn't have a hangover from all 8 of those drinks in one night, but I prefer hard liquor over beer. I get to be creative with my crazy concoctions that way.

Hangover is caused by dehydration. Try drinking a glass of water in-between every alcoholic beverage and a large on when you get home.

You know, I wouldn't either if I could just EAT afterwards, before I crash! But I"m trying not to do that anymore... I am trying to end my drinking nights with water and a very small, healthy snack only.

I'l add another question to the mix:

How many drinks typically does give you a hangover, and in what form? (liquor, beer or wine?)

If I start mixing my drinks, taking shots, or tasting lots of wine, it's a sure recipe for a hangover... even if I only have 4 or 5 drinks.

I can sip on beers all day and night and feel fine the next day. Love me some beer.

It really just depends on the person I used to drink way more than that (probably 15-20 drinks a night) and as long as I drank gatorade before going to bed I NEVER had a hangover. It was just remembering to do that that was a problem. Alcohol dehydrates you and that is where the hangover comes from, just hydrate hydrate hydrate before bed and you won't have a hangover (or at least not as bad of a hangover).

Depends on what it is. Vodka makes me sick as a dog. I love screwdrivers, but just 3 or 4 leaves me in bed till noon the next day.
Tequila is a different story....I can slam 7 shots and be begging for more, and sleep it off just fine.
Hot Damn 100 is a fav...I've lost count of shots and never had a bad reaction.

I don't like beer and can only tolerate a little wine, so I've never had any bad experiences with either.
