if you search for 'calorie intake', 'starvation mode' or 'eating exercise calories' in these threads there are literally hundreds of discussions on the topic.
it depends entirely on your situation, and what works for you...
as a general rule, people tend to say your NET calories should not dip below 1200 (so your calories including exercise). but if you are very short/don't have much to lose etc, this might make a difference to you... i don't know what your BMR or goals are so can't really say for definite!
read the forums, then try different things - try having a negative net, try keeping your net at 1200, see what works for you.
good luck!0 -
NEVER NEVER NEVER have a NEGATIVE net. The people who said that were thinking of "leaving the numbers green" on your diary. That is "negative to your GOAL". not NET. NET is on your homepage. Your NET calories at the end of the day should equal somewhere between 1200 and your original calorie goal for the day, preferably closer to the goal.
NET is everything your body has to run on for the day. So a negative net would mean that you ate very very little and worked out very hard, therefore leaving your body LESS than ZERO calories to perform basic functions of life. This is pure and utter starvation and can land you in the hospital if you try to keep it up.
Look up your BMR. This is the amount of calories your body needs per day just to survive. To beat your heart, expand your lungs, repair cells, etc. Never let your NET go below that if you can help it. If you are "obese" and have a lot to lose, you can probably safely go down to 1200 net even if your BMR is more than that.
Ever try to run a car with no gas and no oil? You'll seize up the engine with no oil and the car won't move with no gas. It will be in the repair shop and you will be in the hospital!0 -
