In a word, no.
How long have you been on it? You shouldnt feel antsy on it? If you do, it may not be working?
Feel free to friend me if you want to discuss anything x0 -
Prozac should make it hard to binge or aka eat all night, right? Isn't that why they prescribe it to patients w bulimia?0

Not sure. It is used for people suffering from anorexia or bulimia, but works to make you feel happier and combat depression?
I have come to find that I ignore what everyone says about eating only when hungry. I have 1290 calories to eat per day, plus my exercise calories. I spend a couple of mins the night before thinking about whether I will exercise the next day or not, and plan my meals accordingly. I now always eat breakfast (whereas I never used to) and then have a snack mid morning (hungry or not) and then lunch, another snack. Something a little bigger about an hour before I go to the gym, and then a smaller dinner later on.
I work in an office, and take small snacks like bananas, dried fruit and nuts (which I put into portions the night before)
Seriously, if I can do it, anyone can - i'm like the most unorganised person in the world, but I make myself make stuff the night before! If I get hungry, I buy crap, so I do this all to make sure I dont get hungry!0 -
When I went to the dr for depression we had to play with the medicines a little. We started on lexapro and celexa and one other that I forget the name of. Currently I am on 450mg of wellabutrin...The most you can take at once. When I first started it (450 mg straight out of the box) It left me jittery and a little on the paranoid side. I had to work my way up to that strength.( 150 mg for about a week then 300 mg for a week then finally 450 mg every day) I WON'T let the dr change it now!! It has done me wonders and I don't want to go off it for the time being. Maybe the product isn't right for you. Maybe you should talk to the Dr about changing up your meds. Friend me if you want. I don't have all the answers but sometimes you just need someone to vent to.0

I was on prozac for about 16 years and it made me gain a lot of weight. Obviously not only the drug itself, but a combination of factors, however, when I stopped taking it I had a very immediate weight loss. Mine was prescribed for combined anorexia/bulimia with major depression and I was on a dose of 60 mg/day. I don't believe it stops you feeling hungry, but it does make you less susceptible to the factors that encourage eating disorders (control factors etc).
Bear in mind that different people react differently to these drugs and they don't really know what makes one person behave a certain way while another behaves differently.
Since I stopped taking Prozac I have less trouble losing weight, but more trouble controlling the 'all or nothing' side of the eating disorder. And yes, it is possible to be eating disordered and overweight! There is a eating disorder that revolves around night eating - google it!
Not much help, sorry!0 -
sorry, Meant to put in my original post. I'm pretty much nocturnal. Stay up all night and sleep during the day. When I'm on my prozac I can't sit still and I'm a housewife so I am just here all the time. When I can't sit still the only other room on the first floor of our house is the Kitchen so I end up eating when I don't think I'm hungry just because I can't think of anything else to do0

Def try to change to a different med or lower the dose your one. I have been on quite a few dif depression meds and in the begining I did get jittery and crazy, but It should go away after a couple weeks. For the time being though try to keep your hands occupied with something else. Learn to knit, organize photos, write in a journal stuff like that... dont give your mind a chance to think about food. If you feel like you cant help but snack try popcorn. If you pop it yourself and dont add much butter or salt its like eating air!~!~!~!
(talk to your doctor about how you feel though)0
