The maker of Snickers bars and M&Ms candies says it is raising prices on various items to offset the higher costs of raw materials, packaging and energy.
The statement issued this week by Mars follows a similar announcement by its larger rival, The Hershey Co.
The privately held Mars did not say which products will go up in price, or by how much.
But it said the majority of the price increases will take effect Oct. 17, while several other changes will be introduced through next March.
Mars also announced a price increase in January, as did Hershey.
So this makes me pretty happy cause then I really won't eat it. I've always said 85cents for a candy bar is a crime...

I guess we should buy Halloween candy early. No wait, that's probably a bad idea. It would get eaten.0

Yeh, It probably would. I wouldn't know, I don't celebrate Halloween but have at it the best you see fit. Seems like prices on EVERYTHING are going up just cause of gas. I'm sure you all heard the McD's $1 menu is goin to be null n void soon.0 -
By The Wall Street Journal
McDonald's (MCD, news, msgs) is testing modifications to its popular $1 double cheeseburger, and higher prices for the sandwich, as it prepares to change its Dollar Menu by next year.
Don Thompson, president of U.S. business for McDonald's, said the company has tested ways to make the burger less expensive to make.
Some restaurants are selling it with one slice of cheese instead of two, and billing it as a "double hamburger with cheese." Others are offering a double hamburger without cheese. Some are selling the traditional double cheeseburger at prices ranging from $1.09 to $1.19.
The company is also considering expanding what it considers the middle tier of its menu, items ranging from about $1.30 to $2.
"We know customers are facing tough times in this economy," Thompson said.
There's more to the article but that's the beginning the point is, no more $1 menu either. Which is helpful. :laugh:0 -
My sister works for Mars corp. so she gets discounts on the items there.....lucky her . I would eat the place right out of business knowing me.0

No more dollar menu means no more Mickey D's for this family of 11-- oh well. :ohwell: Easy come, easy go.
And Halloween? I have enough trouble staying out of the kids bags, so I buy the crap that nobody likes anyway-- well, actually my kids love it, but go figure-- "Dum-Dum's, Jolly Rancher's" that crud. I give it by the handfuls to the maybe dozen or so kids that come down our dark, little culdesac.
But, sheesh-- what good is it if it ain't chocolate? :huh:0 -
oh crap. Family of 11? Wow. How do you retain sanity?0

I have paid upwards of $5 for a single bar of chocolate. Quite happily too, I might add. I was at Schipol airport and discovered that Lindt makes liquor chocolates. Mmmmmmmmmmmm Grand Mariner: love:
I am a teetotaler, actually, except when it comes to liquor chocolates!0 -
No more dollar menu? Ack...that was my treat...I figured those items into my calories and figured that it wasn't that much of a splurge since it didn't cost much...eep! I don't eat there much anymore...but when I do I don't want to spend a fortune! Please tell me the sugar free vanilla iced coffees aren't going up in price too!0
