*rant*
I get really frusterated that binge eating is only considered a problem for heavy people. I had one of my "out of control moments" where i am alone in the house and just start eating everything rapid fire, in a state of panic and sheer horror. I hate it because i am thin, therefore, if anything, people seem to think its cute that i ate an entire bag of croutons in 3 minutes flat. Its not cute at all, and its terribly distressing to feel out of control like that.
and it is even more distressing to enter entire bags of croutons into MFP! I feel like the computer is judging me.....
Ok, done feeling sorry for myself *end rant*

It's ok, every day is a new day. But I agree with you, any binge eating isn't healthy, regardless of how much a person weighs.0

i think it's wonderful that even though you are not overweight, you're still trying to get into the groove of a healthier lifestyle. just because people are thin doesn't mean that their insides are in perfect working order, and bingeing affects your health regardless of how much you weigh. i think the opposite of your case are people that are overweight and are *only* interested in losing weight - not in the health benefits they could be gaining and the healthy habits they should be trying to implement. it's great that you're concerned about your overall health, so props to you! just keep doing your thing!0

I know exactly what you mean. I dont really need to lose any weight, at the lowest weight I could be, and have binged all the way through the 11 day holiday we have just had. Mega binges all week long! I have put on 5 lbs, which is totally understandable, eating normal breakfast and lunch, then having nothing but sugar for the rest of the day. Now I have to put myself through the cold turkey of not having any at all.
People cant believe that I eat so much and not put on any weight, but they dont realise the struggle it is of actually having that problem! I havent put anything in MFP.
Good luck,0 -
I hear ya! I also hate that because I am thin that my co-workers/friends/family roll their eyes when I say I need to watch what I am eating. No one wants to talk with me about exercise, weight loss, healthy eating, etc. and its because they dont want to hear it from the skinny *****. Unfortunately, they do not see that I struggle just like everyone else and look for encouragement from the ones I care about most.
And as a side note, as a thinner person I can not burn near as many calories in a 30 min cardio session as a person who is 50 lbs. heavier than me, but I can put as much pizza away as the rest of 'em. So in that is the struggle.....
Okay, I am done ranting...... next..0 -
Binge eating like that is usually connected so some kind of psychological issues as well. If you aren't seeing a therapist or a counselor it probably couldn't hurt to talk to someone that specializes in those sorts of issues. I agree that just because you are skinny doesn't mean it's not a problem, and it's great that you are trying to control it but part of the problem is what makes you binge in the first place.
Hopefully that helps.0 -
Thanks guys. Sometimes you just need people to say tomorrow is another day. Its something i know, but hearing it makes it seem that much more attainable.
@1080Fccv - That is soooo true! i can run for hours and burn a lot less then people with less wait! i guess if things really go downhill i can explore my future as a competitive eater....
@TheKitsune6- You are very right. I have seen specialists in the past, but when the trouble was much more severe (bulimia/anorexia) but something seems to have triggered that part of my brain as of late, i think it would be very helpful to talk to someone and figure out what the heck is going on before any problems get to be out of hand.
I would actually loveeee to do weight watchers, but i feel like people would question being there as i'm not actually trying to lose any weight....0
