Apparently, I totally need to adjust mine with the way MFP works.
I have always dieted with the mentality less is best. Starve myself and i'll lose weight. It used to work, but unfortunately now it doesn't. Not sure if its a willpower problem or support system issue, but either way, it can't be good for me.
Then I stumble upon MFP. Can I really lose weight eating 1200 calories, or more if I exercise? Gasp!!! I am not sure as since I started, April 22, I have gained 1.8lbs.
Am I accounting for everything I eat? I think so. Why the gain? How long before I actually start losing? Can I hold out long enough?

A digital scale is good for getting the exact amounts right - are you able to exercise much, that helps. I know eating exercise calories is a hot topic here but I only ever eat a few of mine...

If you've been starving yourself a little weight gain is to be expected. Your body is having to adjust to the extra calories, and it will want to store them. It should take a couple of weeks, but then it will realize it doesn't need to store anymore, and your metabolism should then increase helping you to melt it off better.
Make sure you log everything, and measure correctly. Take measurements on your body, to track that instead of scale weight for a while. Get your exercise, especially strength training, as that will also help increase your metabolism.
Good luck;0 -
If you were eating so few calories before, your metabolism has likely slowed way down to accommodate for so little food. Now that you are eating more, your metabolism needs to adjust to the changes as it speeds back up. You will likely gain a few pounds the first few weeks of eating more until your metabolism gets back up to speed. Then you should start seeing losses. Dont give up! Good luck!0

It DOES work. Trust the system. I just finished my first month with MFP, eating 1310 + exercise calories back (sometimes I only eat back about half of them), and I lost 9 lbs. Give it time and keep going!!0

I am going to keep going and hope to see a change soon. There is only so much more weight I can allow myself to gain.
How long should I give it?0 -
The rest of your life.0

The rest of your life.
Thats a given. I meant with this direction???0 -
You have to eat to lose! I eat so much more when I am losing fat! but the right foods... Instead of two big *kitten* meals.... 12 small snack/meals! lots of wholesome food!
You can do it0
