Hello
I am getting married in Austin, Tx next year and looking for resturants that have healthy options. No bbq please
I am trying to come up with a list of atleast 5 so I can go in June and try them out. Only thing I need them close enough to 16221 Crystal Hills Drive Austin, TX 78737. So no more then 20 min away. Thank you all for the help

You only get married once (in theory). Sod the diet! Your wedding day is not for dieting.0

That address is a little far out, but the closest part of the city is South Austin, which abounds in choices.
-Mr. Natural (I don't actually like their food, but you may)
-Güeros has a number of healthy options
-Satelite Bistro and Mangia (pizza) are probably the two closest places (across from the Circle C HEB at Slaughter and Escarpment). Satelite has some awesome salads, I have never been to Mangia, but can usually find salads at pizza places - I just had an awesome Pear Gorgonzola salad at Home Slice last week. Satelite also has live music a few nights a week for that real Austin feel.
-Highball is an experience in and of itself and tends to have trendy presentations so that portions are smaller than some restaurants. The seared scallops would probably be reasonable (I can't remember how much grease they might have).
-Bouldin Creek Coffee at South First and Elizabeth has an excellent menu of vegetarian and vegan options.
And, I am sorry, but I have to say it: Rudy's BBQ offers lean brisket. I doubt any of the sides are particularly healthy, but yum.
Almost forgot: Congratulations!0 -

I am not on a "diet" I just don't want to become sick on my wedding day from eating things high in fat and sodium. Looking for natural food choices. Also a lot of my family only eats gluteen free food0 -
First of all congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. You only get married once (in theory). Sod the diet! Your wedding day is not for dieting.
I completely agree. Enjoy this special day. I can understand you not wanting bbq with a nice dress on but live it up. one day is not going to derail your goals.
Have fun and enjoy your special day.0 -
Wait: are you looking for catering, rehearsal dinner or just places to eat while you are in town?0

Well I am getting married at Chapel Dulciena (spell check) and the offer a venue room but I don't see spending $600 plus dollars on just the room not including anything else. I was looking into Jack Allens kitchen but not sure if they have a banquet room. So I just emailed them to ask about details. So something that has a similar menu would be great. Thank you all for the help0

Last time I was in Austin I checked this place and was blown away by the food (all healthy, organic and vegan). Eating here is not a meal - it is an experience.

Ahhh, I misunderstood - I thought you were just looking at places for while you were in town. That is a beautiful location!
Whole Foods, Central Market and Royal Fig have catering that might work for you.0
