What do I log this as?

Hey all,
Ok, so my activity level is set to light (stay at home mum) and I'm just wondering if I can log my day shopping!!?
I've spent 4.5 to 5 hours (excluding lunch break) walking round the shops and trying stuff on today - I'm knackered! Plus dragging 3 kids and an unwilling hubby with me ;-)
Can I log this as anything? It's outside of my normal daily activity, but doesn't seem like exercise really. What would you do?

I log it as walking. I'm set as sendentary so I log anything out of the norm! Good luck!0

I took a long shopping trip this past weekend and felt the same way. I actually logged it as 60+ (whatever you want) minutes of light walking 2.0mph. It's not that many calories, but it helps keep your exercise log more accurate.0

There is an exercise walking leisurely. I do this when I go on a shopathon too.0

You could log it as walking, but I wouldn't log the whole time. For example, I was went yard saling for 4 to 4.5 hours Saturday, but I only logged 3 hours of it. I have a sit down job, so any type of walking is outside my normal.0

I agree. I would definately log it because it is extra to what you would normally do in the day. xxx0

Yes you can.Under your exercise diary type in" walking" you will have several options to choose from,such as 2.5 mph to 4 mph. Choose the pace you think best fit your activity level for that 4.5hrs and enter it into min 270 and it will calculate the calories you burned. I use this when I work.I spend alot of time walking. Is your activity level really "light" ? I would expect as a stay at home mom you are probably moving a lot more than you think and the calories at light are pretty low. I would watch that if you don't lose, you may be too low.

Yeah, I know what you mean but I'd rather be under than over estimating my calorie targets! I'm running around after 3 little ones today, but when my eldest is at school and I meet up with friends for coffee etc, I don't seem that active! lol

Ok I'm a stay at home mum to two young children too - and my activity level is also set to 'light'.
The options are:
Sedentary (sat at desk most of the day)
Lightly active (on feet during the day)
Active (carrying extra weight while on feet - i.e. nurse or postman)
Very active (Athlete, labourer etc)
What do you think is the most appropriate activity level?
I know it depends on how active you actually are as a mum so I'll list what I do (the things I don't log as exercise, since I log grocery shopping and errand running as exercise since I walk everywhere, make it a power-walk, and carry it all home):
All the cooking and food preparation
Vacuum every other day
All the laundry
Walking the children to and from school
About half of the cleaning and tidying
Confused, but in a good way :bigsmile:0
