  • Almost 50 years old here. Just turned 47 and I am finding it a bit harder than when I was younger...however I have lost 7lbs in just over 3 weeks by sticking to the counter and working out daily....started at 167 down to 160...goal weight is 130....It will work just stick to it...

It gets harder, and therefore harder not to use THAT as an excuse !! I just turned 41 and have been working out consistently for a year and a half -- lots of cardio and strength training -- which cut my body fat down but at the same time I put on muscle and I was still the same weight and bulk. I'm convinced that real weight loss for women, especially as we get older, is portion control !! I started on MFP a few weeks after I started dropping the really bad stuff out of my diet and once I started with the portion control and all, I lost those 15 pounds that have been covering up all my hard work at the gym !! I'm back down to my college weight for the first time. But let me tell you, if I'd been working out and eating clean like I've been, and I was 20, I'd be a swimsuit model
  • Thanks everyone!!
So True, portion control is key I think. I ahve been running/walking even completed a half marathon and after 4 months of training I didnt lose an OUNCE!! I did, as I call it, loadshift!! Weight was the same just in different places!! I will continue to watch my portions and my caloric intake and keep on truckin!! Thanks for the support and advice!!

YUP that's it, just keep on truckin. I look at it this way ... it's not going to stay the same. Your weight will either go UP, or go DOWN ... may as well do what you can to keep it on the down-side because it all adds up over time, either direction !!
  • Hey all, just an update, I am down 6 lbs!!! portion control and exercise!!!! 5 more to go!!! although with Goid home to mom's I doubt if I will make much headway the next couple of weeks, I will be happy to maintain where I am now!!
    Happy Holidays!!
