Working Out with ankle injury

So I just learned from my doctor that my ankle pain is from a milk reccurent sprain. I'm now wearing an ankle support and I was told to cut my workouts in half. I'm pretty sure he means the treadmill workouts, which is what I've been doing.

My question is, what are some good exercises I can do? I want to focus more on cardio, but strength training stuff is cool too, as long as it doesn't put stress on my ankle.

I have a very pesky ankle injury ... just over a year where I can't walk faster than a stroll or run at all without pain. I have been swimming and riding my bicycle as my only forms of cardio. Swimming is fantastic if you have a pool available. I have found that if I overdo it on the bike, my ankle will hurt, but the recumbent bike isn't bad especially if it has hand grips as well because that helps get all the body parts in motion. Also, I use the rowing machine every once in a while too. You aren't going to burn the same amount of calories in the same amount of time with anything but the swimming though.
Good luck finding something that works and heal fast!

I have ankle issues too. I like to do the stationary bike and add resistance as I go. If I feel up to it, the elliptical machine doesn't put as much stress on my ankles as the treadmil does. Hope that helps!
