This comes from the August edition of Glamour. I found it interesting!!

See how many calories you can melt in one day without even trying.

7:30 am--make your bed. You'll burn 30 calories.

8:50 am--park farthest away from your office and power walk there (about 3 minutes each way). You'll burn 40 calories.

10:20 am--Forget email and actually deliver 15 messages to coworkers. You'll burn 68 calories.

12:35 pm--take the stairs instead of the elevator (6 flights each way). You'll burn 58 calories.

3:15 pm--trek the 3 long blocks to starbucks (or wherever) rather than driving to get coffee. You'll burn 65 calories.

5:45 pm--leave the grocery cart in the store and tote the bags to the car. You'll burn 35 calories.

7:20 pm--skip the dishwasher and do your giant sinkful of dishes by hand. You'll burn 75 calories.

8:30 pm--get off the couch and pace around while you chat on the phone with a friend for 20 minutes. You'll burn 64 calories.

11:00 pm--Special bonus: crawl into bed and have sex! You'll burn 45 calories!

    Just goes to show that it's not just the 60 minute super step kickbox with weights workouts we do.

    I really liked the three long blocks to Starbucks - just don't get anything but "joe" there.

    Took you pointing it out, but isn't interesting that "Glamour" is saying 140 lb woman, rather than say 110 lb woman. Just think about it.

    Oh, and that they are realistic about "sex" time. The people that ask how many calories for sex, crack me up.

    Yes, Mary the "how many calories does sex burn?" question always cracks me up, too.

    (LOL, whoever's doing it for an hour, I want some advice!)
  • Boy- if I quit driving to work I wonder how many calories I would burn. Not exactly practical though as I live 90 miles from work and would NEVER make it home before I'd have to leave again.

    I did do the math though and for each time I take the stairs instead of the elevator I'd burn an additional 39 calories. Since I'm the only one in the family that does dishes I do wonder why I'm overweight at 75 calories a day average.

    My goal is to take the stairs and to park further away from my work door. That will get me more calories burned.

    Yeah, this is just part of existing. None of this counts as extra burned calories.

    If a girl is only burning 45 calories I'm dumping her for being a bad lay.
