Ok so my sister in law has given me a TON of clothes for my son. I am so lucky to have her! All of these clothes are stain free and in GREAT condition. She has also given me underwear.. .you know the training kind. I thanked her but am not planning on using it. My mother thinks that I should. I said it isn't that big of a deal to go and buy some for my son... I have been given so much... but she says that she doesn't think it is gross. What do you all think? Would you put your son in his cousins training underwear? Keep in mind that it is in great condition, not the first stain... I still feel like it is gross!

I do not think there is a right answer here, its your personal preference. I do not use hand-me down undies from cousins, but I do between my kids, if they are in good condition. I guess I am no help at all :ohwell:

I don't think it's gross - you can wash them in hot water and bleach.

At my son's daycare center, if a child wets themselves, and does not have extra clothes - they will put the "surplus" clothes on the child - including underwear. The parent will wash and bring the "surplus" clothes back the next day and so the cycle continues.

If it bothers you, by all means donate the training pants, and get some new - Wal-Mart sells them relatively cheap.

So nice that you got a ton of stuff free - I LOVE freebies

I just received a TON of hand me downs from my neighbor including undies. I had no problem using them as long as I washed them first. I thought it was great to use those instead of buying new ones...especially for potty training. I see no problem with it at all!!

    Hand me downs are great!!

If it make you uncomfortable then just stick em in a Goodwill bag. Like you said, they're not that expensive.

You can never have enough training pants. So go buy yourself afew new ones and keep the ones that were given to you just in case you need. My son's and all my foster kid had "seconds" and all of them turned out fine. They are only going to need them for a few weeks anyway.

I used mine between the 2 kids - bleach and hot water do wonders - but like someone said it's your personal preference.

It is definetely your preference, I however, think that if I myself would not wear something like that I would not put my child in them. Just my opinion.
  • I say go with how you feel, it's really not that big of a deal. I have two boys

Bottom line-- how poor are you? Me? I'd take the undies. If you're grossed and can afford 'em, knock yourself out.

    DO what you like...
I personally did use all hand me downs with my children. They are clean, have been sanitized, etc. But if you are not comfortable with it don't.

I will probably change my opinion with my second child, but... I wouldn't share undies between kids.

I'm a germ phobe though. You should see me on medical calls where the patient has poo'd him/herself. I look like an astronaut...

When my kids were little I probably would have accepted the training pants. But it you're not comfortable with it then you shouldn't. I think it's a personal preference. Don't let anyone make you feel bad because you don't want to put used training pants on your child.
