hello~~
so I'm looking to maintain/gain weight. i used to take online classes so i was able to get a good estimate on what i needed to eat back exercise wise.
but about a month ago i started attending regular highschool again (i'm only 16, profile is a lie~). somehow I was put into two P.E. classes.. So M, T, Th, F I have Gym for 2 hours, and on Wednesday I have gym for 3 hours. it's all some mixture of cardio, where one class (hour) is specifically walking/running and the other we play football/soccer/volleyball/basketball. i have no idea how to log this or what to log it as.. should i just put myself at very active and forget about logging that and only log my purposeful workouts (I do P90X 2-3 times a week to maintain/build muscle) or idk. i was up to 105.6 but now i'm back down to 103.8 since starting..
i was eating 1800 cals + exercise cals to gain 1.6lb over 2 1/2 months

Wow that is a lot of exercise - why do P90X also? I wouldn't...you're gonna have to eat a TON to keep up with all that and try to GAIN weight at that.
You need to up to at least 2000 calories per day, especially since you're still growing and since you're trying to gain muscle. Don't you know you need to eat at a surplus to gain muscle? You're going to keep losing at that rate. I eat 1800-2000 cals a day, am almost 20 years older than you, and do not workout nearly as much, and I'm maintaining at 110 pounds.
Don't let yourself get too thin, you'll set yourself up for bad things to come...0 -
Because you can't maintain muscle with cardio alone, and all of the things we do are cardio. and in most cases.. cardio burns muscle.
i used to be 94lb and eating over 600cals would make me vomit. ^^; so I'm on a track in the right direction.. kinda.
so should i eat at a 'very active' level? that puts me at 2300 cals a day, then i will log and eat p90x cals ontop of that?0 -

Yes, that sounds like a good plan. Then you don't have to worry about logging in your PE classes every day, since they vary so much.
I was extremely skinny in High School and had trouble gaining weight, too. Just keep feeding yourself and taking care. I would take an Ensure or Boost every day to supplement my calories without feeling over-full (since they're only 8oz of liquid at 250-300 cals)
Man, I wish my school had offered 2 hours of PE every day. I always had nervous energy sitting through classes.0
