I FOUND A FIX FOR BINGING!

Well maybe... The other day my husband turned to me and said, "Babe, we don't have any snack food, or munchies!" It then donned (or dawned, SP?!) on me, that is exactly true, we don't have any snack food or munchies and that is why I have a really hard time binging when I want to! haha and not to mention my husband goes for what is quickest!

The only thing in my cupboards are ingredients, stuff you actually have to mix with other things in order to get food.

So I just wanted to share this little piece of newly realized knowledge... if you want to experiment (maybe this will work for you too), throw out everything that is munchy. keep only ingredients, healthy ingredients, in your cupboard. I am too lazy to constantly be standing in the kitchen cooking all the time to feed my binge cravings so it works.

the only kind of munchies that i have are Fresh veggies or fruit, almonds and lightly buttered popcorn.

I don't know if it will work, because I don't think my case of binging is anywhere near extreme, but its worth a try! But anything helps I figure!

it definitely helps. . .my ex used to b*tch at me when I tried to diet because I refused to buy junk food. .. today, my fix is a sinus headache from hades. . I've not munched on anything but a snackpack of pringles. . .yesterday I was munching on everything :P

Heck yes! I do the same thing, the only munchies I have in my kitchen is popcorn that I have to cook in an air popper. It amazes me at how lazy I really am because I won't even get up to make it lol. The only other things I have to munch on are fresh veggies, apples, bananas, grapes and carrots. Usually I will look at them and go "to bland, maybe I could clean this instead?" and I distract myself and eventually turn into a 1950's house wife doing chores and whistling, although I don't do it in heels. ;)

my problem is - when I crave or want to binge and there is nothing in the house (we usually only keep popcorn), I will bake. I can whip up most anything in no time.

For example, two nights ago, between tv commercials, I mixed and cooked a batch of double chocolate (semi-sweet + 70% cocoa) and double nut (pecan & walnut) cookies. took me all of 12 minutes (minus cooking time of course). Which inevitably led to eating about 5 of them (sadly @ 250+ cals each!). So, I have been sending them to work with my husband and to school with my kids to share with all their friends. ;-)

BUT - you are right - for things like chips and whatnot, I refuse to keep it in the house or I WILL eat them all!

I fear this may happen once my cupboards are stocked with baking ingredients, I am newly married and so I only buy what is necessary right now...

which means no fun stuff like cookie ingredients :grumble: Its better for me I guess. haha I totally understand! BTW that recipe sounds DELICOUS!

I really wish things were that easy for me. I am a culinary student for one thing. I am around food all day long. And I just got a new job at a really nice restaurant in town. With my schedule all i usually do is snack. I don't have time to eat a meal. When i do, i just grab some fast food. That is my binging. I have to figure out a way to eat small meals in between class times, and the rush in a restaurant kitchen. This is day three of my diet and I have been doing okay so far. But I think i'm going to have a hard time eating the calories i need.

I want to eat healthy so i don't want to stuff myself with empty calories. But it's really hard to ignore the call of taco bell when i'm driving home from work at 8 pm and i haven't eaten since 10am. It's really going to take self-control on my part. So far I haven't eaten any fast food these past three days and I feel so much better, that's really going to help.

Yep :) I dont buy anything that isnt "meal planning" necessary and keep my snacks to a minimum (such as 100 calorie popcorn packs for snacks here and there. Actually, that is the only snack).

When I visit my Mom however, she had crap everywhere. :grumble: :grumble: :grumble: Actually, yesterday I stopped by her house to grab something and I opened her frig and saw fruit and sliced celery....I think she is taking some pointers from me for once

My little sister has the darn metabolism that means she gains NOTHING so she gets to snack on the "tasty" stuff:cry: Wait till she hits her twenties, it seems all the women in my family so downhill from there

I tend to do the same thing. I am too creative. I can make something tasty out of just about nothing. Even plain sugar! I can turn that into caramel in about 30 minutes. I make artisan chocolates as a side business, so I always have chocolate in my house. I have an entire fridge dedicated to chocolate. It makes it hard to keep the binge foods out of reach.

This is my solution, also. The only thing to binge on in my house is my kids' snacks (e.g. goldfish crackers, string cheese and peanut butter). haha
