On the average, I believe it is suggested that most of us will lose about 1 to 2 lbs per week...For those of you that lose 3, 4, or 5 lbs a week...How do you do it!!!...What factors do you think most contribute to the weight loss being that high...Exercise, the type of food you eat...etc...Tell us your secrets...

SINCE I DON'T LOSE 3-4 LBS. A WEEK, IT'S GOT TO BE ALL THE MAJOR WORK-OUTS THEY DO, HAS TO BE,RED:sad:0

For me is sometimes just happens. I don't know why because I am eating what I am supposed to a la MFP. I am guessing that if I averaged it out over several months it would still turn out being close to the goal pounds/week that it is supposed to be. Part of it will be water weight since as you get smaller there is less body to hold water, but that is really just a guess.0

Foods I eat, and time I eat them. And I don't "eat back" all of my hard work!0

I am around 3 lbs a week and I don't know how, other then dropping all the junk food and putting healthy stuff in and upping my water! I don't ask questions, just enjoy it while it lasts!!0

A lot of it also depends on starting weights. The larger a person starts out the more they will lose at first. It eventually tapers off.
Sometimes there is no controlling it either. I can go two weeks and lose nothing then all of a suddenly lose 3 pounds.0 -
I dont know how they do it either!! I work out 5 days a week burning 900 and up calories a day, weighlifting, jump roping, staying within my recommended calorie intake and Zumba classes and I dont loose like that. I truly think that some of the weight loss reported (5-6 lbs a week) is exaggeration...sorry to be a debby downer!! BUT honestly anything over 2lbs a week is considered unhealthy anyways!!0

I've lost on average 3 lbs a week.
Cardio! I started bicycling just about every day and wouldn't get off until I had been out over an hour. If I didn't bicycle I hiked with the dogs for over and hour and made myself go as fast as I could without running. If the weather wasn't cooperating, I went to the gym and did the Cybex Arc Trainer for 30-40 minutes and lifted weights and did core exercises for 30 minutes.
I'm now riding 20 miles at a time and doing 5 mile hikes with the dogs. when I'm out, it's over an hour and half at a time. When I started, I would get done right at an hour, I was happy to do 12 miles or 2.5 to 3 with the dogs.
6X a week. One day off. And sometimes on those days off I'd still walk the dogs, just not as long or as fast.
I do NOT starve myself. I eat anywhere from 1600-1900 cals a day. I don't stress out over my diet. I know it's mostly healthy stuff and that if I try and deny myself anything I will start craving everything and eat terribly.
Oh, I also drink a LOT more water. Not the 8 glasses a day that they say you should have, but 50-60oz on average. Whereas before I'd be lucky if I had 1 glass!
I started out at 194 and I'm 177 now. That's from April 2 to today. Keep in mind that those of us who have more to lose will lose it faster at first. As I get closer to my goal weight I'm positive it will not be NEAR as easy. I just hope that I can sustain this for another 20 lbs! That would be awesome. People with less than 30lbs to lose seem to lose it more slowly.0 -
1-2 pounds is healhy weight to lose. Second, if you have more weight to lose it will come off faster. Third, how much are you workingout and moving around? What are you eating? You should chekc out my blog for advise and tips0

The reason this happens is because of their calorie deficit. Myfitnesspal will set a person's weight-loss between .5 to 2 pounds a week. This basically means that if it takes 2200 calories for you to maintain your current weight, then if you only eat 1200 calories a day, you'll lose 2 pounds a week.
So, if you start exercising, and you burn another 1000 calories on the treadmill, you'll have a calorie deficit of 2000 which would put you at 4 pounds a week. I would discourage anybody from losing weight this way because this could cause several problems like major gallbladder problems, starvation mode, and failure. Consult your doctor before deciding to lose more than the recommended amount of weight per week because losing weight too fast can cause problems.0 -
From personal experience, I lost between 3-5 pounds a week during the first few weeks of my decision to change my lifestyle. Something happens after you lost so much weight so fast; your body tries to adjust to such a drastic change. During this time you may experience the dreaded "plateau" or a decrease in weight loss. Overall, it doesn't matter how fast you lose the weight, as long as you are losing it.
Also, don't compare your weight loss to anyone else. Find out what works for you.0 -
I don't try to lose more than 2lb a week it just happens, some weeks I lose nothing and others I lose 4lb. Since Sunday I have lost more than 2lb already.
I eat at the same time, I eat the same things on the same days, I work out at the same time with the same work outs. I just don't understand it.0 -
Usually people that are extremely overweight will lose weight much faster than a person that's barely overweight. So, a person that has a BMI above 30 may drop 4 pounds with no problems at first, but then come to a screeching halt for a few weeks and then lose more weight. If you lose weight really fast at first, don't become discourage when your weight-loss slows. It's no big deal. Just keep counting.0

That's what I'm going through right now...haven't lost a lot in two weeks but I'm looking for it to pick back up soon...Gonna do some of the things these other people are doing...I drink a lot of water but I'm going to try to drink more and exercise more...0

I weigh 1x per week. I have lost 3-4 pounds a week several times.
I don't eat back my exercise calories, I am careful what I eat, and measure everything!0 -
Check into the 17-Day diet... The initial Accelerate phase helps to detox your body, shed water weight, and get you back into health eating habits. Then it slowly adds back in all the other kinds of foods. It does require excessive exercise, only 17 minutes per day, and walking is fine. www.the17daydiet.com0

Be sure to lose weight the healthy way. Your goal I'm sure is to keep the weight off for good and incorporte a lifestyle change, not just weight loss. The goal is be healthy. Don't spend your energy on losing 4-5lbs/week. Focus on fueling your body with the proper nutrients, exercise, enough sleep and plenty of water. I drink 100 oz per day. As soon as I get up, I drink 16oz.
The fitter you get, you need increase the intensity of your workouts. You must continually challenge your body. It adapts very quickly. You don't have to make drastic changes to increase your intensity. I do Beachbody's Turbo Fire, P90X and Insanity workouts. They keep my body challenged.
Be sure to take into consideration that stress, not enough sleep, just to name a few, contribute to one's ability or lack thereof to lose weight as well.
Stay focused, stay positive, stay productive ... don't let nobody steal your joy!!!0 -
I want to thank everyone for your comments...I have learned a few thing and will put them to work...You guys are great!!! Good luck on your journey....0

Hmmm... I'd guess a lot of it is water weight. Or people who really have a lot to lose to begin with.
Personally, I'm not interested in losing weight fast. I'm interested in losing fat. And that takes time.0 -
Off Topic: So does the "Biggest Loser" represent healthy weight loss?0
