i read that gym gained 36 pounds of muscle in a month without steroids.

meaning the site is a scam.
You can't gain 36 pounds of muscle in a year without steroids.

    They're selling lies.

Sounds kind of "Scammy" to me but I'll see if anyone backs it up.

They have an entire thread when you do a search in MFP. I was reading it yesterday since I borrowed the book of a friend not too long ago.
Actually there was mostly good comments on MFP, but to me, it wouldn't be a "way of life" I would be able to keep more than a month. I mostly read throught the Diet part (where you can lose weight without exercising, but there's another chapter where the author teaches you how to run a marathon and gain muscles, another chapter on sex, another part on mastering the temperature of your body in order to lose even more weight).

    Good points:
-You don't need to calculate your calories as you are restricted to a list of ingredients (meat, veggies, beans). One day a week you can eat whatever, whenever and the quantity you want.
-Conclusions seems to be based on studies and tests he made.
-people commenting on MFP seemed to have lost weight doing it.

    Why I'm not a fan:
-No carbs, no starsh makes it hard to stick to the diet, you can't eat fruit, dairy products too. I found it way too strick to be able to eat only a few things for the rest of my life.
-Calcium - the author recommends to take calcium supplements (I guess because you can't have dairy) but when you know that pretty much every women over 40 needs more calcium, I think that you should include some more natural ones in your diet, instead of always relying in pills supplements.
-He gave example of a guy eating burritos 2 or 3 times a day. No doubt the guy lost weight, would you eat the same thing everyday over and over again?
-While we don't need to exercise while doing the diet, there's couple chapters devoted to exercise?
-I'm not 100% sure that if you run or do exercice in the cold, you will lose more weight (a good amount). I mean we have winter for like 6 months here, we have to go outside, people are not losing weight during winter, they gain?

Anyways, overall it wouldn't be my best bet considering what doctors and nutritionnists say.

Sorry for the super long comment, I hope it helps!

Ferris has another book called the 4 hour work week.. Sounds great but doesn't work well in practice. Made me very leery of the four hour body.

Plus, I think we all understand that gaining muscle is not easy. If he was referencing four hours a DAY then you MIGHT be able to gain that much muscle (doubt it) in 2-3 years. Your body has a natural ... we will call it disposition. What I mean by that is that your body gravitates towards a certain shape when working out. Some people get huge arms, some people don't when they do the exact same exercises. Some people can get insane abs ... I cannot.

Just my opinion ... but I equate this book to the "diet aides" that are everywhere and promise you will lose "x" amount of weight in "x" days.

Hard work equates to a hard body! Cheating leads to a temporary fix ...
