Do you display reminders of your past weight.

On my dining room wall are two family portraits. One is from before I lost 140lbs and the other was taken after. Many people have asked me why I have not taken down the old picture.

My answer is that I am not ashamed of what I used to weigh and I am PROUD of what I accomplished. To me those pictures are a constant reminder that I can succeed and it reminds me of my pledge to never let my weight get out of control again.

So, do you have a pair of "fat pants" that you plan to save just to show yourself and others what you accomplished?

I have kept my fat jeans and will not hesitate in getting them out every now and then to try them on and remind myself I don't EVER want to wear them again!

I do like that picture idea, I may have to put an old and new one up on the fridge :) Good motivator.

While I haven't lose any weight yet to display past reminders I agree with both of the first posters tactics!

I'm still wearing my fat pants -- although a belt is necessary to keep them up (yay!). I'm sure I will keep a pair as a reminder when I stop wearing them. :)

I actually don't have any pictures of me at my heaviest...well I do but you can't really see where I carried my weight in them (it was mostly hidden by baby). I have pictures of me up when I was skinny...got rid of all my clothes from when I was at my heaviest. I'm focusing more on where I want to be and how far I've come rather than where I was. I do have one picture on my facebook that I look at every once in awhile and I think "Wow...I've come a long ways!" And it puts a smile on my face.

I have my before picture hanging on my fridge. It is a constant reminder of what used to be.

I keep a bathing suit from my past (it is in one of the pictures I have posted here) and a dress that was tight when I bought it, then when I could wear it I was thrilled and now it is huge.

I'm going to leave my start photo up on my profile I look at it couple times a day to remind me what I use to look like...it helps me get off my butt to hit the gym and watch what I eat

Not that I have ever been huge, but we don't have photos of us around the house, only of the children.

I don't make a concerted effort to hide photos of myself from when I was at my heaviest, pretty much for the same reason. I am proud of my progress, and it's nice to look at one of those old pics and think, "Wow! Look at how far I've come!!" Besides, I'm with friends and family in a lot of those photos, and I'm not going to banish them too just because I was 50+ lbs heavier!

I kept the pair of pants that my mom bought me for Christmas just before I started losing weight. It was the biggest size that I've ever worn (the one and only in that size) and they fit really well back then. That was over a year ago now... and when I put them on, they literally fall off me. When I get discouraged and have a bad day, I definitely pull those out of the drawer to play with!

With pictures though, I somewhat feel ashamed, despite my absolute LOVE for before/after pics. My best friend has pictures of me and her on her wall from when we traveled together in college... and when I saw them when I was home for Christmas this year, I was really tempted to tell her that we should take some new pictures so that she can replace them! lol

I have kept photos at various stages of my journey. I have one on my fridge that was about 30lbs ago and I am amazed at even that difference. I can't take it down though because it is a super cute photo of my nephew too

I kept a "fat outfit" that I do intend to put on when I get to 150lbs (1/2 of what I was when I started this journey). Sometimes it is hard to see where I came from without those reminders. I may still have quite a ways to go, but I am already more than half way there.

My pic on here is me at my fattest and at my slimmest. The fat side reminds me how unhappy I was when I realised that I had become the 'fat friend' and the slim one reminds me of how confident I was and happy. I wore that outfit for a fancy dress night at a Buffy convention I went to with friends years ago, had an amazing time and made some fab friends, although the only problem is that said friends live in LA and I live in the UK!

And this one from holiday last May... when I saw the pic I wondered why my boyfriend had taken a picture of that fatty... then I realised that it was me...

My current profile pic was taken a couple of months ago and I intend to keep that up for a while longer as continued motivation. I also have one pair of fat trousers (sorry, I'm in the UK, so fat pants conjures up a completely different image that I just don't want in my head) that I'm hanging onto for when I get down to my goal weight. Sadly (?) I don't have any pictures of me at my highest weight. I think I was avoiding having my picture taken because I knew deep down that I didn't look good.

I like this outlook a lot! It's for this same reason that I leave all the old pictures of me on facebook tagged..there are pictures from some great times I had and important times in my life; I don't want to delete them all because I've changed my body and health habits. I feel like too many people distance themselves from who they were when they were heavier, and forget that they are still the same person, making better choices.

I have my university graduation picture hung in the hallway my family insist on keeping it there as they are all very proud which is really nice of them, but I hate it. I will always have that photo forever, its one of those important life moment pictures, I really wish I had got my act together before I graduated. Its a massive motivation for the day though when the first thing I see when I come downstairs every morning is that picture !!!

I have a picture that I took as a before, I keep it on my ipod. It is a terrible picture that I took just for me when I started my weight loss journey. Someone I showed it to remarked that I look pregnant. Unfortunately the baby was 6 months old already. When I look at the picture I feel like crying but now, 60 lbs lighter, I have new pictures now that are a lot less embarrassing. I work at a gym and when someone starts to tell me that they feel like quitting or that they are too far gone and cant see any way out I show them my before picture, I am literally the person that If I can do it you can, and the picture proves that.

I do indeed, I have a weight loss page on facebook (if you search for my username, you'll find it, if any of you want to have a look!) and my profile picture is from when I was nearly 200lbs- I don't think I have any photos of myself larger than that because, in true fat girl style, I avoided the camera like I avoided the gym!
