How to log this?

There are days when I wake in the middle of the night and I am starving to death. I usually have cottage cheese or a bowl of cereal - something quick. I love my sleep. lol. I always log it (later in the day -- not right then...), but I'm never sure if I should log it for the previous day or log it for the current day? I've gone to sleep, but I'm going back to sleep. So, which day?

I guess go by your clock since MFP would reset your day at midnight anyway.

just make your days go midnight to midnight, so say you wake up at 2am and have a snack, Id log that on the following day instead of the previous day. its up to you tho :)

That's a good question! I think I would log it on the actual calendar day that I ate it on.

I would log it as the next day so you are able to budget it into your calorie intake. Unless you have enough leftover kcals each day to fit it in, you should log it in for the next day so you don't end up putting yourself into the red for each day, but forgetting about it since you're on the next day of logging.

If it's after midnight i log it on the next day under either my morning snack area or as breakfast. =) But if it's before midnight i put it in my evening snacks. I have the same problem. I am a horrible insomniac and wake up a lot when i sleep. Sometimes i'm starving and just HAVE to eat something. LOL

Since I work second shift, my days don't usually start til around noon and may not end until 2 or 3am. I will occasionally wake around 5-6am and be starving. I tend to ignore MFP's midnight to midnight since my schedule is so weird sometimes.

I think everyone has their own rules on this. I've had that happen a couple of times - normally when I've had a low calorie day (e.g., workout day and didn't eat all my exercise calories). If I had a bunch of calories left over the day before, I count it for that day. Otherwise, I just add it to my breakfast for the next day. It hasn't seemed to hurt either way.

How about having a couple slices of all natural deli meat about an hour before bed? No bread or crackers, just the meat (my favorite is turkey breast). It will make your body feel 'full' for longer throughout the night. Works for me :-)

I usually eat before I go to bed. It doesn't happen all the time, just once in awhile (often on days when I do a full hour of cardio).
