Good Deeds at the Gym

It can be easy for us to complain about all the jerks, divas and funny looking people at the gym, so I wanted to share two experiences from just this last week that have built my confidence in the gym.
Friday - Went into the scary looking guys only (unofficially) room at the gym by my work because I was tired of just doing machines there and free weights on the weekend at the one by my house. I walk up to the weight rack and there is exactly one set of 15 lb weighs a guy is leaning down to get. He sees me in the mirror waiting behind and turns and asks if I need the 15lbs. I told inn I was but I would just find another weight and he said not to worry and handed them to me. That one act made me no longer afraid of the guys room.
Today - A trainer waiting for his client saw me doing a chest press while making a bridge with an exercise ball. He came over after I finished a set and said what I was trying to do was awesome (automatically helped my self esteem) but my form was working my shoulders more than my chest. He worked with me until we found a position on the ball that correct how I did my press. Then he said, since I set up my bridge so well why don't I work my triceps and lats in that position and showed me two more exercises and walked me through a set. He again helped my self esteem by saying it's not often he sees women going for the 15 lb weights and to keep it up. He absolutely made my day just by working with me for 10 minutes. I made sure to file a compliment with the manager who was all smiles because he said it's a rare day someone calls him up to say something good. That trainer helped me from injuring myself in the log run and made my exercises more effective so I had to do something good for him.
These experiences are just solidifying my renewed love of the gym. I know I am not perfect with my exercises and not as strong as I could be but these two men have helped me to be less afraid of weight rooms and helped me to start to develop better form. I really want to pay it forward and find a good deed to do for someone else.

My favorite hottie at the gym likes to jump on the treadmill next to me (mind you, he is an employee) when there is no one else in the gym, and talk to me during my whole workout. Gives me something to keep me entertained, and I love it.
Edit: He will also fill my water bottle up for me when I run out. What a nice guy, right?!0 -
Just goes to show how deceiving appearnaces can be :-) Nice to know there are such generous people out there.0

There is absolutely no reason to be afraid or intimidated by people at the gym Everyone is there for the same reasons and most of the time people will be polite and helpful.
In any crowd there will always be a couple of jerks, but I like to think that most people are decent.
Stolly
PS Hush7hush - you should share your hottie, there arent any at my gym that I have noticed lol0 -
Ut-uh, he is MINE.
I'm gonna get sexy and steal him away.0 -
That is a very worthy goal lol. Good on you.
The only good looking guy (that I have seen) at my gym runs the Basic Training class (think boot camp run by a guy who's goal is to make at least one person throw up per class lol). He is hot, but I dislike him very much when he makes me do burpees.0 -
I want to join your gym! Or become less shy to be able to talk to strangers face to face.....hmmm.0

I love talking to strangers.
Is that a weird sentence?
I'm so glad I have confidence, even though I'm a fatty.
I wonder if I'll be cocky when I'm fit?
