    Don't give up.
And when your legs hurt so bad you can't move, just walk that day instead.

Yep. My red hot tip is to not over think it. Do your 3 runs per week, enjoy it for what it is and dont try to anticipate what is coming up next week.
I couldnt tell you how many people freak themselves out by sneaking ahead and seeing what is coming up.
Good luck with it, the C25k rocks.

I started it and had to totally do a modified version of it...which I am still doing and I'm now up to that EIGHT MINUTE INTERVAL (!) after several months, so my pace is really slow compared to the actual program, but I'm still running...don't feel bad about repeating weeks or tweaking it slightly if you need to. And make sure you do shin stretches after EVERY run...your shins will thank you.

couch to 5K - its a 9 week program of interval training to take a couch potato and make them a runner.
  • I second photogrrl--stretch!

Lori ("Okay, I have no idea what C25K is??? ") C25K is a running program or beginners:

Just stick with it. Tomorrow I'll be finishing week 8. Then on Sunday I'll begin week 9. I'm so, so proud of myself!

If you feel like quitting just remember why you started in the first place.

For me, I used to love to run when I was a kid. But when I started smoking at age 12 after being diagnosed w/asthma the year before(kids do the most genius things) I screwed up the joy of running for myself. Its impossible to enjoy running if you can't catch your breath.

So, in my case, finishing C25K has been about reclaiming the ability to run for myself. It was about loving and taking care of myself (because for much of my life I haven't).

So why are you thinking of starting the workout? Hold on to that inspiration. It'll get you through to week 5 and beyond.

I've also decided I want to try the c25k which I'll be doing on the treadmill but when it says to jog/run what is a good mph to start with?
