when I stopped focusing on the numbers...

I swear I can gain weight by smelling food-- I've tried sooo many different things to lose weight--and of course if I did lose it, I regained it... What I *finally* figured out that started working (for me anyways) was when I stopped giving my actual weight so much importance. I'm not gonna lie-- I still freak out and get discouraged once in a while, but I've never been able to stay on track for this long! That in and of itself is encouraging!!

I bought a weighing scale (when I got over the fear of facing it) that calculates my weight to the tenth of a pound. I celebrated each tenth of a pound -- 30 pounds later, I'm still celebrating :) I also started focusing on making small attainable goals for myself, which I feel helped out a lot, instead of planning to stop eating junk food, start working out, etc. all in a couple of days

It takes us sooo long to create bad habits, we need to give ourselves a bit of time to undo them as well :)

just some food for thought...

smaller steps - greater results :) trying to rush into it and expect the weight to go in a week is never sensible or realistic....you have got your head in the right place - keep it up :D

You are sooooooo right with this. I stopped focusing on my weight and began to focus on other things: inch loss, reducing body fat percentage, improving the quality of my calories and it really has helped me to stay focused and also helped me to be less upset about what the scale says.

Do I want to lose weight? Yes! But, doing it this way means I'm happier and healthier whilst I'm on my journey.

Well done for making this a lifestyle change and not just a numbers game and also well done for your fantastic weight loss.

yes! I couldn't have said it better :) I can't count the number of times I would spend a few weeks working out like crazy only to be discouraged, when realizing I hadn't lost some crazy amount of weight--- It took time, but has definitely helped me accept myself and the changes in a more permanent way :)

congrats on your success as well-- great job you're almost there!
