hi i dont know of this has been written or posted before, but i started my fitness pal on monday, and it told me to have 1200 cals a day, which i eat qnd i excercise just jog and burn around 150 cals, so i dont eat more due to the burnt off calories. as the subject says i have lost 4lbs in 3days, is that normal, im worried about it, as surely that cant be fat lost, i drink 2 liters or more a day of water. thanks for your time and help.

I was thinking that as well... I started on tuesday and I am 3 pounds down? I am having trouble keeping up with my calories though, I can barely make it to 1000 on the diet I am on now... would love to hear what people think? x0

It's not unusual to lose weight quickly when you first start - make sure you keep eating your calories (1200 net calories is the general recommendation for women) and exercising and you will probably see your weight settle down soon, if you keep losing at this weight then I would be worried after a few weeks, but not in the first week or so.
It's really better not to weigh yourself everyday, once a week gives you a better guide to what is happening as daily fluctuations can be quite big (related to water, hormones and all kinds of other stuff).
Edited to add: it depends a lot too on how much you have to lose - the more you have to lose, the quicker it can drop off at first. If you don't have much to lose then 1200 might be too big of a calorie deficit for your body to cope with over a longer time.0 -
Also, because of water, you weight can fluctuate quite a bit. 1litter is about 2 pounds. Some weight loss could be just water changes. Once or twice a week weights are better to give you actual weight changes.0

hi, i dont really have to much to lose, i was 119lbs, 8st 7lbs, and want to get to 8st or 112lbs. then down to 7st 7lbs , as im only short, only 5"1. but i have been exercising and eating health since christmas. but yes, i will stop weighting myself and see what it says on monday, perhaps its only water weight if i continue to shoot down the pounds i will start eating more calories due to the exercise.0
