I am obese (BMI 32) and we're TTC. Are there major health risks in getting pregnant when obese? Any thoughts/experience will help.

Have you discussed this with your gynecologist? You'd probably get the best information there.

Here's an article about risks of obesity and pregnancy: http://www.cdc.gov/reproductivehealth/maternalinfanthealth/PregComplications.htm

I'm not a doctor, nor in any way an expert, but from what I've read, it can be much harder to get pregnant when obese. If you do, there's a risk of developing diabetes and it's likely that your baby will be big, and you may need a caesarian. Also, the baby may be at greater risk of also being obese when it grows up. Talk to your doctor.

Definitely discuss it with your Dr, but I have had 5 kids and was morbidly obese during most of my pregnancy's. I had no problems getting pregnant (took less than 2 months TTC each time), no health issues (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc), and all were vaginal births. My biggest baby was 8lbs 6oz (first pregnancy when I gained the most weight) and my smallest baby was 7lbs 2oz which was my last pregnancy when my weight reached it's highest ever although I only gained about 10 lbs. while pregnant.
