Now does anyone watch those diet shows etc on TV and you see the girls saying-
'megan is clinically obese... she weighs 14 stone and is a size 20....'
and the girls on there look A LOT bigger (not saying 14 stone is huge- i weight lots more than that!) they look more like 30 stone! I personally weight 16 and just keep thinking, if they look like that at 14, what the hell must I look like?!
I know everyone is diff shapes and carries in diff places, I'm lucky to have a little bit everywhere rather than everything on my thighs for example, but does this get anyone else down as well?!

Dont worry about what "they say".
Your doing a great job, and your going down the right path.
Stick with your healthy eating and excersize and you will meet your goals.
The most important thing is how YOU feel and if YOU like how you look in the mirror.
Not what anyone else says.
And for what its worth... You look beautiful in your pictures. :drinker:0 -
god, your lovely!
why cant there be more guys like that in the world?! lol0 -
i know what you mean... im a size 14, and weigh 209,(on monday)... and when i watch things im thinking okay shes a 14, i dont look that thin! (since my body carrys differently and height plays a factor) or sometimes i see people at 210, and i think omg thats how i look!? It deff makes you upset0

Yes! I agree, gets to me too - when the biggest loser was on tv here - the youngest contestant (i think she was about 17 unsure though) weighed 15 stone 2lbs....which was what i was at the time.....but she looked huge....and when she had lost some of the weight she still looked big....It gave me a huge shock with my body weight to be honest.
Im like you though, luckily its all over fat also, but still....major 'what do i look like then' after seeing that....0 -
I know what you mean. I do often wonder what I look like to other people... Because I found that in my own head I was never THAT bad... I just knew I was overweight and unhappy. Then when I started seeing clearly and looked back at some of the pictures of myself I just thought... my god... How have I been living like that?!0

I was a size 14/16 at 185 pounds. My mother wore a pair of my old 16's yesterday and she was miserable by the end of the day because they were too tight. She weighs 190. Everyone just has a different shape. It's hard to compare yourself to others. It seems like you will always fall short. I know I do.
I also know that I am wrong when I compare sometimes. I will look at a woman and say, "wow, I wish I was that thin!". My mom or husband will look at me like I'm crazy and say "You are thinner than her." We just don't see ourselves the way others do.0 -
TV lies. Don't worry about it. Your personal numbers and goals are what count.0

oh yeah, I have those feelings sometimes! I carry my weight well, in fact, most people don't believe me when I say what I do weight, they always guess me 20-30 lighter.
Instead of letting it get you down, you should be happy you carry the weight well and concentrate on getting healthier.that's what I try and do. I'm constantly trying to stop comparing myself to every overweight person I see.... in my head it's a constant.. "do I look like that to everyone else?" "I wonder if I look that big", etc etc...
It's annoying to myself! LOL What I find most annoying (and this is no one's fault really) is when I see people who lose 10-20lbs and go down a whole dress size! I've lost 16 pounds and can't hardly see a difference at all! Because I lose like I gain, all over! I suppose it's better in the long run, but it's annoying as all get out!0 -
I know what you mean. I was watching biggest loser and one of the girls on there, her start weight was only 10lb higher than mine. 10lbs is nothing. I didn't want to be that close to a contestant on the biggest loser.0

Yeah, I now turn the station when those commercials come on. They always mention the weight but never how tall the person is, that makes a huge difference. Someone who is 5'5" is going to look heavier at 180 lbs than someone who is 5'10".0

See i dont understand, im in size 14 and weight almost 25 lbs heavier then you!0 -

I started out at 195 and was closer to an 18! I have to be in the 160s to wear a 14! That's the weird thing, I wear larger clothes than some other people my same weight, but at the same time, I don't *look* as large as some people my weight. Or I don't think I do! Maybe i do, maybe I'm just fooling myself! hahaha. I have seen pictures of myself and sometimes I think "you don't look that big" and other times I think "you are huge!" sigh......0 -
Slightly off-topic, but I was very disappointed after hearing Jillian Michaels going on about how obese she was as a youth to see she was only 175lbs! If I woke up weighing that much I'd be delighted!0

that is crazy! I have to be in the 160s to wear a 14!!!!! I'm barely in 16s and weigh 177 right now!0 -
that is the most upsetting part.. you will always see yourself either thinner or thicker than you are, depending on where you come from. I am 5'11 and 158, with a large frame (my hip bones poke out, so not a lot of fat there, but i am still a size 10 pants because of them).
I see myself as HUGE because I started out at 230 and a size 18. I am not sure I will ever be happy with where I am at, but can only try to keep at it a healthy way. Also, because I am so tall, I always comare my clothing sizes to those hang out with, who are all 5'5 or so... I am in a 8-10, and they are smaller than I am, it can be depressing when you feel your bigger, but you may not be.
Being able to objectivly critique yourself is sooo hard to do0 -
I totally know what you mean. I see pics of people who are my weight and I am stunned, wondering if that's what I look like. At the same time, I am 289.6 and I wear a size 22 jeans so idk how people who weigh way less than I do wear the same sized jeans!0
-
It really depends on how tall you are and what your body shape/ fat distribution is. I'm 6'1" and people often think I'm several stones lighter than I am because 'I carry it well'.
To be a size 14/ small 16 I'm about 190-195lbs (around the 14 stone mark).
But I bet a person who was 5'1" could easily be 30+ pounds lighter and the same size.0 -
I weigh 202lbs and I am just into a uk size 18, I can get a 16 on but not do up the buttons.
I am big in the boob department too (KK+) so I am still in a size 20 top even though I have lost 8" off my band/back size in bra!
I have always had a spare tyre between my belly button & bikini line (not that I would ever wear one!) I am hoping that more will come off those areas soon and then I might get into a 16.
I remember buying my first "adult" size clothes and they were all 14's but I quickly went up on the top half to accomodate the cleavage - by my 16th birthday I was a 36FF!
I will get there, as has been said before we all wear our weight differently, I managed to hide two pregnancies in mine!0
